Re: Missing children

You think it hasn't cost us anything extra? You do realise the Home Office has to decide to issue this money for the searches. So yes, it is extra over normal police activities/funding.

Of course it cost extra but the extra cost is probably nowhere near the total cost of the investigation. I think the point Sbrinz was trying to make was that a lot of the costs are fixed costs and would have been incurred in any case.

It's very difficult to compare the costs of the McCann investigation and the Needham investigation as they took place at different times and facilities/techniques/communication etc. had changed a great deal during that time.

As a parent I would hope for the search to continue until their whereabouts was found (either dead or alive), as an uninvolved outsider I can see that there comes a time when the costs become too much and investigation should be put on hold in the absence of any new information.

Re: Missing children

Madeleine McCann 'assumed dead' by German prosecutors

Let's hope this is the guy and they can get a conviction.
