I've heard it all now, groups of people walking round disney to snatch kids, really?????? in that case it would be daily occurrence no?
insert random pic of tin foil hat here > | | | | | It does indeed. They even offer straps to have your child connected to you at all time.
Being naive about this is cute but please don't go there with kids thinking it does happen only in movies. |

I think far too many people on this thread have been watching far too many movies, the straps are not to stop your kids being abducted, they are to stop your kids wondering off and getting lost.
yes kids get taken all the time, but to suggest there is some organised group that steals them to order, and there are groups touring disney day in day looking for poor lost children to take is beyond laughable, it doesn't even warrant debating about, its a myth, paranioa, born in hollywood thrillers, unless of course you're married to liam neeson.
Maybe do a quick google http://www.snopes.com/horrors/parental/kidnap.asp
Oh look at that, lots of urban myth sites, in fact NO child has ever been abducted from disney https://www.google.com/search?q=disn...w=1134&bih=716
LOL LOL LOL

LOL LOL LOL | | | | | Good for you.
I am a child who has been abducted in Disney world and the police told us about the whole thing. So here is your choice, believe what you may or may not read on Internet and what someone's experience tells you.
I don't care what is your choice, it won't change the reality. I find you pretty naive though.

Lots of people told me they knew the couple who's autistic son stole a penguin from chessington zoo - I don't believe them either.
I don't know your story, abducted eh? they where not successful obviously? maybe you should go to the press and let everyone know that its not an urban myth.

LOL LOL LOL | | | | | That is the point, kids do get taken, maybe not all the time from Disney, whether it is by a family member or a stranger. It makes sense then to be aware of this, it's too late once something happens to them. I bet the McCanns wished they had been a little more paranoid.

one of our sons went missing at Disney when he was about 3 years old, just wandered off at one of the rides. we found him 30 minutes later in a children's center with 3 or 4 other kids who had done the same, he was grabbed by an employee working one of the rides not 15 feet from where he wandered off. the training that Disney gives each of its employees with respect to handling lost children and security is incredible, it took 30 minutes for us to find him because it took that long for the employee to walk him to that end of the park.
I don't think there has ever been a documented abduction from any of the Disney parks in the US. for sure the average child is far safer at Disney than they are visiting a non-custodial parent.

It is much more difficult to do it nowadays but still not impossible.
It is also not surprising we don't hear about it but it doesn't change that it happened, it still can happen. But things got better since the last 25 years. They have better security and training in case of an alert.
Still 1/4 of the abductions are from total strangers of the child.

did you look at the 2nd google search? not one child has ever been abducted from disney. you think they could cover something like that up? when they get sued when kids see the characters heads fall off.

| | Re: Missing children | Quote: | | | | | Or a lot less irresponsible. | | | | | Indeed. I don't know what happened to the child herself, but parents, educated parents, going out for the night leaving very, very young children alone, sleeping in an unlocked apartment? I'm surprised they haven't been charged with criminal negligence (maybe they have, I'm just not interested enough in the case to go looking).
The white middle-class parental hysteria fueled by the media is really curious though. I was in an upscale bakery/coffee shop a few weeks ago while taking a break between home tours and my daughter was refusing to eat her PB sandwich. I did what I always do in such power struggles; I ignored her. So, kidlet goes off to sit quietly behind one of the comfy chairs about 10 feet away while I kept looking through the home listings and texting my agent. While I was doing this, some random person comes up to me and asks me if the child behind the chair is mine and why I wasn't concerned that she might be snatched. It took me a moment to recover from the WTF that crossed my mind, and I told her that, no, I wasn't concerned as she was the kind of kid an abductor would return quickly with a note attached saying, "I'm so sorry". She gave me a really bizarre look and tromped off.
The number of children abducted by complete strangers is so small and is so uncommon as to be even more unlikely than being struck by lightning. The people you know or are related to are far, far more dangerous than random weirdos. This doesn't mean you want to live next door to a level 3 offender but I don't know that worrying yourself sick over it will keep your child from being a statistic.

| | Re: Missing children
When I visted family in Tennessee a few years ago I had my 2 little ones with me.
I went with my OHs Aunt to the local Walmart - she gave me a lecture on not letting the children out of my sight for a second as so many children had been abducted - I was shocked to read on the notice board the pictures of children who were missing and had been abducted.
Every time the children played in the garden they had to have someone with them as a 3 year old had been abducted from there 2 months previously.

I am inventing this story just for entertainment. I wasn't really abducted, it was just the wo,an who wanted to help me out.
I should tell that to my parents, I am sure they will be please to know that, really, that never happened, etc.
Now I am going to roll my eyes with condescendance and I am going to sigh with exasperation in front of your naivety. I am done having this conversation with you on this matter. Since you weren't there nor never lived something like this, it is pointless to try to open your eyes on this reality. Keep believing everything you see on internet instead of what is going on in the real world outside the screen.

No, because no one has ever been abducted from a disney park anywhere in the world, ever. Unless your saying that every police force in the world is undertaking a coverup on behalf of disney, and they pay off the poor families never to talk about it.
I really don't know, or really care, what happened to you, or more correctly what your parents and you *think* happened.
My eyes are wide open thanks, if you want to live in your own paranoid drama queen world then carry on, don't forget to check for the bogyman under the bed and in your wardrobe before you goto bed too, and don't say candyman 3 times in a mirror
when someone keeps posting up that kids get abducted from disney, and they where one of them (yet are still able to post here??) yet every urban myth site debunks this, and there is not one news story or website that substantiates this claim then what am I supposed to think??

My son was abducted in Ikea. I saw him being led away by a couple I did not know.
I went up to them and said they could have my other one as well, if they wanted.
The woman looked down and you should have seen the look of horror on her face when she realised that it wasn't her own son whose hand she was holding.
This was followed by the look of horror on my son's face when he realised that this woman was not my wife!
Her own son was a few metres away running around the display shelves.
That would have been a statistic abduction case if I had reported it but I couldn't as I was laughing too much.

And if it is her husband, well it is not a rape either because they are married.
She "think" it happened. What a drama queen, she shouldn't have the right to tell people...
What a dumb ass.
