Because the articles are all in etiher German, French or Italian and most of you already struggle with English...hence, I'm not sure if it had the same pull.
That's probably why we miss them!

A man was shot in the leg in Belfast. He's okay though.

there were several shootings which took place in Switzerland but nobody bothered to "report" these in this thread.

So how do you know about them?

And more to the point, if they weren't in the press, how could we know about them?
I guess he has sources other than this thread.

Ah, that's the problem LIb,- we don't read Blick.

And these are almost all family feuds rather than the sorts of killings portrayed in the other posts.

Indeed, I bet the U.S, has many of these family feud like killings too which don't make the National, let alone International Press.

I've seen most of these and/or others (well probably at least those that happened in the German speaking part) but don't recall that they were hidden away after the celeb gossip

Most of those sorts of stories are in the domestic news segments of the papers.

Sometimes in the "bigger" papers there's a comment section with editorials which are, admittedly, further into the paper but the headline story is normally nearer the front section.

Re: A shooting just happened in ( *fill in the blank * )

You know,

This is an absolutely pointless debate that will never be solved.

By the way, In Massachusetts the other day, there was a 24 year old teacher killed by a 14 year old student. He brought a box cutter and spare clothes to school, presumably had a normal school day, killed her in a bathroom after school, then changed clothes and went to the movies. It doesn't get much more cold blooded.

Some people are sick in the head and no amount of gun control (or lack thereof) will ever solve that problem.

This largely depends on whom you have the debate with.

Interesting article on a box cutter related death.

Can you post another one like it?

Didn't think so, hence why "Gun control" is far more topical.

I was simply trying to point out that gun control isn't a panacea, and neither is the opposing viewpoint. Hence my comment "gun control or lack thereof"

You're probably right, but since we're debating this on EF that's where my comments were directed

Since you asked, I can quote lots more just like it.

China- http://www.chinasmack.com/2013/stori...ile-phone.html

India - http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/...cle2874995.ece

U.S. - http://www.commercialappeal.com/news...unior-academy/

Interestingly enough, if you wiki this, you get a page with several hundred examples, from all over the world. A lot of them involve firearms, but a lot don't. In skimming the data, I even noticed one that was an assault by Flamethrower. A few of them date back to the 1800's.

I think that any rational person would have to agree that access to a gun makes murder "easier," if someone is already leaning in that direction, but I'm just trying to point out that you can't legislate away homicidal tendencies. If every gun in the world disappeared, people would still find a way to kill other people

On a lighter note, loved the picture. Ironically, the guy in question has on an ATF hat. For those that don't know, that's the U.S. Federal law enforcement agency that enforces gun laws at the Federal level. A real redneck would never plug his ears while holding a gun, because he'd have a beer in that hand
