I for one, would like to make sweet-sweet love to the Endeavour. I guess that makes me a technophilliac?
(actually the real lust is for the challenger---nec-technophile?)

And I need a weekend
Mate, I'm not doing you down here, but I doubt you'd have enough in your "payload" to satisfy a single manoeuvring thruster, let alone the booster array.

Well put.

I guess I'm better off sticking to my own Canadarm anyways.

It`s possible - but a huge cost for the number of trees involved.
No, I agree with Chemmie - replace the trees with double the number.

I believe the papermills of the EU have to do this by law. I think I read it once.

Then again, I picked that particular factoid straight out my **** so I could be completely and utterly wrong.

Re: 400 Trees vs. Endeavour parade

Um. How do I report the guy on this thread who is trolling?

Sorry LiB, but that's you. Let's look at the evidence, shall we:

It's sad to see how much people care about trees, whilst completely neglecting human lives.
Off topic - mod, please delete. But while we're at it, no one said anything about humans.

Quote:

Nobody said anything..but 400 trees are to be chopped up an people get their panties in a bunch, whilst there are people starving as we speak, but nobody seems to give a rat's a** about them. It sure is a twisted world.
Still off topic, but at least the poster in question admits this. Could a mod delete this post too?

OK. Fair point, this one can stay in.

And what are you doing about ?
Plenty
I think all of us would like to hear how YOU contribute to the solution
That's none of your nor anybody else's business.
Ah. This is an interesting combination. So what we have is a poster who complains about an off topic thing, is happy to make judgements about people's panties and what their priorities are, is happy to try to derail a thread, claim he is doing "plenty" about the off topic problem, but while we are to assume he is, he cannot assume that we might be too?

Troll much?

Given the tone of your posts and accusations, I would say it is everyone's business. You brought the topic up, so yes, please tell us why you think you are doing plenty about it.*

*note: bringing the problem to EFers' attentions doesn't count.

Enlighten us how many trees you ever planted in your life
Quite a few actually, but what does that have to do with the subject? The point was that those trees were cut for no reason and those "replacement" trees could have been planted somewhere else. Stick to the point (if you can).

I will be in San Diego in dez./jan. ,and i will visit the museum in LA" Giant step for this MAN"my wife , daughter in law and son will be with me
Good for you! What does this have to do with this subject? There were sure other options of bringing the shuttle to the museum w/o the "parade" through LA.

and BTW: you need to improve your quoting skills.

Re: 400 Trees vs. Endeavour parade

400 trees a second are chopped down so we can look at fluffy bunny rabbits in Blick am Abend.

What difference do 400 in LA make?

That is just crap: blick am abend is printed on recycled paper

If it is in the front of your house/ office, etc: QUITE A LOT.

This is the BIG problem environmentalist have to face: the ignorance and lack of thinking. What you say is like: why should I not throw all my recyclables in the trash, after all so much waste is generated everywhere in the world, what difference does my car battery, my li-ion phone bat., my beer and wine glasses, etc do?

He did answer your question.

Sure, 400 trees alone are pretty insignificant. But this deep-rooted problem of lacking concern for the benefits and values of trees (and nature in general) is one that is ultimately destroying our own well-being.

400 here, 400 there - it adds up. And it's taking a serious toll. This one stand-alone example may not be so bad when viewed independently, but the reality is that this is representative of similar processes taking place all over the world. And, as has been addressed, cities are in greatest need of trees so LA is a great place to start thinking about it.

Well if we keep up this "NASA" nonsense, that's how we'll end up someday soon! Getting stuck behind space shuttles in traffic on our way to Kepler 22b and all!

Stop trolling!

You know (I hope) that this last comment was not about space shuttles only, but the general disregard to nature.

Personally I'm more concerned about children being killed on zebra crossings by space shuttles. If we eliminated zebra crossings we could massively reduce that statistic.
