Simple, they should also have placed explosive device farther up in the building, as well as on the bottom. At the bottom possibly TNT but up higher up Semtex 82

Re: Mothers day shooting... guess where

Nineteen people are shot in New Orleans, including children, but apparently that's not a problem since "It's strictly an act of street violence in New Orleans," and not terrorism.

Let's keep handing out guns. They make us all safer.

In other news, we did try to arrest a brown guy for cooking dinner. Because behind every brown person with a pressure cooker, there lies the downfall of western civilization.

although I am a big proponent of the need for meaningful gun control in the US, all the laws in the world would not prevent situations like what happened in NOLA. the 7th Ward would make even the worst parts of Sao Paolo blush, it is such an absolute hole and is so completely overrun with drugs and gangs.

the old adage goes, "in Detroit they point a gun at you and ask for all of your stuff, in NOLA they shoot you and then take what they want."

Santa Monica shooting

Here we go, again, in the latest instalment of US gun tragedy.

Six, possibly seven people killed as gunman goes on the rampage at Santa Monica College, Ca., close to where Obama was attending a fundraiser.

Gunman shot and killed by police, although there may have been a second one.

Don't forget, "It's not the gun's fault!" When oh when will the US achieve 20th century thinking?

Governments protect people, not assault weapons.

Now being reported as five dead, including the gunman's father and brother, so not as bad as initially thought, although several are wounded.

Do you actually read the news in the US or just stories that fit the anti-gun view? Cellphone surveillance (not to mention that against the AP), increased scrutiny against political opponents of the in-power party, massive debts and deficits, and an already expensive healthcare system is about to become waaayyy more expensive... The US government isn't really protecting much of anything, sorry...

As to the "gun's fault" link to at least one story where a gun loaded, aimed, and discharged itself at someone... We have a shite education system in the US (thanks to teachers' unions and the DoEd), absentee parents, broken homes, and we still blame the gun... That's the backward thinking, sorry.

9yo girl accidentally shoots and kills Arizona gun instructor

This is so senseless and unnecessary. I just don't get the obsession. Guess that is what I get for growing up in a fairly liberal household in Upstate NY. However, Upstate NY is very rural and fairly pro-gun as well...

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-08-2...n-head/5700202

Quote:
A nine-year-old girl accidentally shot and killed a shooting range instructor in Arizona after the recoil on the Uzi submachine-gun she was learning to use sent the weapon over her head.
The instructor, Charles Vacca, 39, was standing next to the girl at an outdoor range when the accident happened on Monday, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office said.

Re: 9yo girl accidentally shoots and kills Arizona gun

I just cannot understand why any parent would want/allow their 9 year old daughter to fire any gun, let alone an Uzi. And surely the instructor could see the potential danger?

That poor girl will be traumetized for a long time to come.

Re: 9yo girl accidentally shoots and kills Arizona gun

Was watching an episode of Border Security: Canada this morning and there was a family who took a wrong turn and ended up at the Canadian border. They were actually going to a local park which was near the border area. They had 3 high velocity hand guns with them, including one in the baby's nappy bag!

I'm afraid such thinking is beyond me. Why does any child need to know how to use a gun?

It is shocking to see kids being allowed to use guns. They can't drink before 21 but a gun? Here you go, enjoy yourself...
