Educating people while young to respect and handle guns safely
is the proper Thing to do. These are not the people that you have
to be scared of.

The People to be scared of are drug using/alcohol abusing parents that don't teach children about the seriousness and responsibility of having a weapon.

I am for changing the Second Amendment for gun control, but educating
Young People is an asset not a liability in this case.
I very much disagree.

For example, the kid that shot up the school in Massachusetts (and killed all those 1st graders) had supposedly been trained by his parents how to properly use a gun. Guns were very much a part of that family's lifestyle. Yet there was never any evidence to suggest that either of his parents were alcoholics or drug-abusers.

If that kid had never been exposed to guns or taught how to use them, then I think there is a strong likelihood that that school massacre never would have happened. He never would have had the access to or knowledge of guns to use them so wrongly.

Simply teaching someone how to use a gun will in no way ensure that he/she will never use a gun inappropriately. Instead, that training could very well backfire (no pun intended) and actually encourage someone to use a gun wrongly since they know how to use one in the first place.

1) He wasn't a kid, he was an adult (20).

2) It was Connecticut.

3) It was his mother who trained him, not his parents. She was a gun freak.

add a couple hookers, an eight ball of blow, some oversized sunglasses and a mid-70's convertible and you can dial-up your very own Hunter S. Thompson Getaway Weekend. fantastic.

just the picture alone on TripAdvisor is enough to be embarrassing.

Actually, I think that most of "those" people are more concerned with their own gov't, not the Russians...

EDIT - OOPS, just saw that 3Wishes beat me to it!

And let's face it - that's what it's really all about, isn't it? Shooting guns is for laughs.
Let's face it, they're not practicing for an imminent Russian invasion are they?*

*Yes, I do appreciate that some think they are.

Re: THE US Gun Control & Second Amendment Thread

Well... the context is completely different as are the circumstances surrounding the event.

1)The family was at a place advertising "Burgers and Bullets." Hardly a venue that would be throwing in an extra helping of hate and instructions on how to kill the infidel...

2)I have a hard time imagining a scenario where a child in the ME would be shooting a weapon "for laughs/entertainment" and not for training that
(likely) goes beyond knowing how to use/respect a firearm.

Imagine the sensationalism in America if this had occured in the Middle East. "Middle East parents teaching their kids to fire submachine guns"

However, being it happened in America, it takes on a whole new spin. Suddenly, it's the instructor's fault and guns are a symbol of freedom.

I don't get it.

Re: THE US Gun Control & Second Amendment Thread

This is really the crux of the matter, and I hate to say that the "gun nuts" may be proven right some day. Their biggest fear is the gov't wants to take their guns so they have no way to fight back when the gov't proves that they are against the people... 10 yrs ago, I would have agreed that these people were lunatics. Today... and it pains me to say it... I am not sure that they are wrong.

So the NRA has taken a stance that ANY compromise on ownership rights is the beginning of the end.

Though how they continue to be against making it impossible for mentally ill people to get weapons baffles me. But the NRA would say that the gov't could get anyone declared unfit, if they had the power to do so.

So we are in an endless loop where we don't get any sane restrictions that could actually benefit/protect the American public.

OK - 3 posts in one day... time to stop! Step away from the gun thread, FDuvall...

I can't stand the NRA mantra "Guns don't kill people, people kill people". Then why not control the numbers and types of PEOPLE who can have sodding access to guns? Yet if you suggest that, they all go frigging nuts about "the constitution". Twats.

Although they'll probably end up shooting themselves, or each other in the foot if they have to fight back.

Now you almost had me here.

The All American Burger is guaranteed to be the best hamburger you have ever eaten. The Bullets and Burgers Adventure is approximately four hours in length from scheduled pickup to drop-off back at your hotel. Helicopter upgrades are available. We also offer shooting options for guests who have their own vehicle and prefer to drive.

What is this world coming to?
