Failed attack on Ahmed in Bulgaria

Below is a video clip of the failed assassination attempt on Ahmed Dogan, the leader of Bulgaria's ethnic Turkish party, during a televised conference in Sofia.

The attacker's gun failed to go off as he attempted to shoot Ahmed point blank. While apprehending the terrorist, other politicians took turns beating the sh** out of the gunman.

After so much violence and bloodshed in the world, there's something gratifying in watching this video.

What is not satisfying though is the fact that anyone can walk into public conference with gun and point it at anyone as you please

Just a note: these are Dogan's security guards, not other politicians.

No they were not guards, all of them are "politicians" from the Turkish party and showed their real face.
The guards were defending the guy from them in order not to kill him public.

It was barbaric!

Mr Dogan should give up on politics and do something worthwhile with his life, the Lord clearly has a higher purpose for him.

Gratifying and satisfying? I see mindless, gratuitous thuggery. I know we are dealing with a potential assassin but they should have floored him, cuffed him and charged him ... instead of which, a bunch of mindless suits kicked the crxp out of him.

Re: Failed attack on Ahmed in Bulgaria

The response does actually seem odd.

The shooter presumably knew he was going to get caught, so may well have had the means to take other people with him. While he was being battered he wasn't restrained (he's actually sat up shouting at one point) and could have potentially drawn or triggered another weapon.

There seemed to have been no attempt to evacuate VIPs; if there was a breach that allowed one shooter, then there could have been more.

I'm no security expert (though I watched 24), but it all seemed a bit lax.

Important was the immediate reaction of the victim, which quite obviously came as a surprise to the attacker

The first reaction in such a case decides your future. Those chaps you see could not have rescued him had he hesitated for a moment.

True, but there are always ways to get into such a place

A) If they were, they were very slow
B) you could see how some were kept back from further brutality, so that it is obvious that most were NOT security guards but simply member of his party
C) everything on the video shows that there were no security guards but lots of members of his party. Again so, without his swift reaction we would have no chance at all

I don't know what he really wanted. He HAD the chance to shoot the victim. But quite clearly was taken by surprise by the sudden and energetic reaction of his victim . There quite obviously was only one "guard" around and that was the "victim" himself who reacted swiftly.

Security was not lax, it simply was not existing. The "victim" ought to give a phone call to Mr Erdogan in Ankara who may send him a decent guard, simply a single person, for protection
