The world's most famous New Zealander, Mt Everest conqueror Sir Edmund Hillary, was remembered as a "colossus'' today following his death in an Auckland hospital aged 88.

Yes definitely a great and humble man. He was huge in India and Nepal as well. RIP

He was apparently freaked out when he appeared on the NZ$5 bill. He mentioned that the Queen was the only living person that appears on money.

Sir Edmund Hilary, an inspiration to many and an example of human kindness, so sad for many that he has passed away but he has left a lasting legacy, and lived an amazingly full life, God bless and rest in peace
