Comet Panstarrs 2013

Yesterday morning, I am, pretty sure, that we saw a comet.

Did a little in one of NASA's website and look at this beauty!

I think it is comet Pan-Starrs.

Re: Comet Panstarrs 2013

Last week, NASA announced that they have found a star system close to the sun.

"NASA’s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) has discovered a pair of stars that has taken over the title for the third-closest star system to the sun. The duo is the closest star system discovered since 1916. Both stars in the new binary system are “brown dwarfs,” which are stars that are too small in mass to ever become hot enough to ignite hydrogen fusion. As a result, they are very cool and dim, resembling a giant planet like Jupiter more than a bright star like the sun. “The distance to this brown dwarf pair is 6.5 light-years — so close that Earth’s television transmissions from 2006 are now arriving there,’ said Kevin Luhman, an associate professor of astronomy and astrophysics at Penn State University, University Park, Pa., and a researcher in Penn State’s Center for Exoplanets and Habitable Worlds"

Do you think that this newly found galaxy which has arrived in ours, is bringing along the comets, meteors and asteroids? Perhaps, this why 2013 has been declared by some, to be the Year of the Comets.

Re: Comet Panstarrs 2013

it's a bit far away to send us comets and stuff. Ours usually come from the Oort cloud.

there's another comet coming, that people wait for as it seems it's going to be a *great show*, but it's in november.

Now some people think that an *unknown* planet, with old gods, is on its way back (yeah, Nibiru), but that's definitely another story

Isn't Nibiru also known as Planet X which is also known as Brown Dwarf?

I guess it depends on who you speak to...

It's two stars they've found, not a galaxy. There's a rather massive difference. Plus us finding it doesn't mean it just appeared from nothing. It's always been there, just we haven't noticed it before.

Re: Comet Panstarrs 2013

there's some amazing pictures/videos taken from up there. Without talking about those taken by Hubble telescope.
