Again, what the media tells you and circulates. Bit you did not see his interview when he totally denied that and said his words were twisted and take. Out of context.

Iran never did anything wrong to me personally, so I do not think I should hate that country, its people. Just because some govt members in their regime say something stupid, so who cares, no actually does anything. Stupid war mongering comments come from all countries, western or eastern.
I see that you have a strong opinion in this matter, and you're certainly entitled to keep it. However, you seem to be contradicting yourself?

Maybe is is just saber rattling, but you basically said that I didn't know what I was talking about. I know that I asked for your opinion, but it would be nice if you would offer up some sort of fact to back it up.

That is where your knowledge of world politics comes to a screeching halt. Western media loves to keep playing this, but it was not true, Ahmedinajad never said Israel, he spoke about Zionism, the regime, not the people,'his words were taken out of context and twisted. Same way as the US Keeps talking about the Venuzuelan, Cuban, Russian, Chinese etc regimes.
Any which do not agree with its vie points. That is Iran said. And btw Iran did not attack, but was attacked by Iraq!
You are absolutely right about this.

Juan Cole, a professor, and frequent contributor to the BBC, CNN, etc. who is a fluent speaker of Farsi, has said that this was a gross exaggeration. What was said was "I want to see Zionism disappear off the map" not that Iran was going to do it.

Secondly, there is no proof that Iran is developing a nuclear weapon. Their country is entirely open to the inspectors of the IAEA and the inspectors have said as much to the UN. Iran has signed the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and is abiding by its commitments therein.

The reports about Iran developing or being close to developing a nuclear weapon have been heard for at least 10 years and have never been proven. They are being spread by people in Israel and in the USA who are eager for military action for various reasons - power, money, blood thirstiness, etc.

Let's not fall into easy judgements which can cost people their lives, shall we? Let's be cautious and not jump into the same situation with Iraq and their weapons of mass destruction. We all know how that ended up.

Sorry, but you're just wrong. Plain and simple. Iran is clearly trying to develop nuclear weapons, whether they be destined as mission payloads from rockets or air launched for airplanes. Your post reads like a Teheran newspaper article.

No, YOU are wrong, and just spewing propaganda.

I am quoting both the IAEA and the CIA. Their assessment is that the Iranians are NOT developing nuclear weapons.

U.S. Agencies See No Move by Iran to Build a Bomb

It is really dangerous to see such ignorant people like you spewing propaganda in cases where people's lives are at stake. Why don't you actually read something so that you can be informed instead of just a propaganda tool?

this is the link to the IAEA report dated Oct 2012

they are the ones who send the inspectors with geiger counters to Iran to inspect and report on what is going on.

Instead of quoting newspaper reports why don't you quote from the actual
IAEA report itself which you can find here; this contradicts what you say about "Their country is entirely open to the inspectors of the IAEA and the inspectors have said as much to the UN."

Some quotes from the actual report;

"Iran is not providing the necessary cooperation"

"The Agency is still awaiting a substantive response from Iran to Agency requests for further information in relation to announcements made by Iran concerning the construction of ten new uranium enrichment facilities, the sites for five of which, according to Iran, have been decided. "

"Iran has not provided information, as requested by the Agency, in connection with its announcement on 7 February 2010 that it possessed laser enrichment technology. As a result of Iran’s lack of cooperation on those issues, the Agency is unable to verify and report fully on these matters"

"Since its visit to the Heavy Water Production Plant (HWPP) on 17 August 2011, the Agency has not been provided with further access to the plant. As a result, the Agency is again relying on satellite
imagery to monitor the status of HWPP. Based on recent images, the plant appears to continue to be in operation. To date, Iran has not permitted the Agency to take samples from the heavy water stored at UCF."

"Previous reports by the Director General have identified outstanding issues related to possible military dimensions to Iran’s nuclear programme and actions required of Iran to resolve these.

Since 2002, the Agency has become increasingly concerned about the possible existence in Iran of undisclosed nuclear related activities involving military related organizations, including activities related to the development of a nuclear payload for a missile"

"
The Annex to the Director General’s November 2011 report (GOV/2011/65) provided a detailed analysis of the information available to the Agency, indicating that Iran has carried out activities that are relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device. This information, which comes from a wide variety of independent sources, including from a number of Member States, from the Agency’s own efforts and from information provided by Iran itself, is assessed by the Agency to be, overall, credible."

Re: Israel & US- What to do about Iran Nuke program?

I am very well aware of the problems between the IAEA and the Iranian authorities. But the IAEA still say that there is no proof that the Iranians are developing a nuclear weapon.

By the way, that "proof" that is mentioned in the last paragraph is a computer that the Israelis just happened to find lying around, which they say comes from Iran, and has some diagrams on it, which "proves" that the Iranians are working on a nuclear weapon. Of course, this kind of proof would not hold up in a court of law, and has already been discredited.

Also, Mohammed El Baradei, who used to be the head of the IAEA was forced to step down because he was too impartial and the USA hated that. They replaced him with a much more compliant Japanese guy. El Baradei got the Nobel Peace Prize by the way, and this was seen as a sign that the international community did not appreciate the USA's tampering with the impartiality of the IAEA.

If you are well aware "of the problems between the IAEA and the Iranian authorities" then why on earth did you write "Their country is entirely open to the inspectors of the IAEA and the inspectors have said as much to the UN."
How do you justify what you wrote is, unfortunately, completely the opposite of the truth?

BTW, the last paragraph is nothing to do with a dodgy computer but a lot to do with facilities like Pachin which seem to be for testing explosive devices related to developing nuclear weapons.

Re: Israel & US- What to do about Iran Nuke program?

the Iranians feel that the USA is trying to gain access to all of its military sites in order to spy on them, by saying that somehow they are linked to some nuclear weapon development.

In fact, explosives research is done in many countries for military purposes and those countries do not have or want a nuclear weapon.

it's interesting how this suddenly becomes an issue when Obama has a trip to Israel coming up. Next week, he will again say that the Iranians are no longer a threat.

And everyone just laps it up.

Sorry about that. I was going to explain but I was in a hurry with cooking supper.

The last time I heard about this situation, Obama was trying fo one on one talks with Iran because they were being so cooperative.

Today, I was shocked to hear what Obama had said about Iran, although it is so ambivalent. It still sounds like he is pandering to Israel, or trying to make up the lack of funds the sequester is having on military contractors in the USA.

In any case, it is an about-face in terms of the USA and IAEA stance towards Iran, and I don't belieeve it has to do with some change in Iranian behaviour but in war drums in the USA and Israel being beaten

Re: Israel & US- What to do about Iran Nuke program?

to add to my last post, there is always a bit of a controversy about which sites are appropriate for inspection

The IAEA have already been accused of spying for the USA in the cases of Iran and Iraq, and when the IAEA is demanding access to new sites, there is a valid argument about whether those sites are appropriate

As for the agreed to sites, there can be access removed from the IAEA which is what Saddam Hussein did and then cangedh his mind just before the war in 2003

I hope that explains that.

Re: Israel & US- What to do about Iran Nuke program?

Okay, for those who think that Iran has no aspirations to attack Israel, or who think that the Media is bias, lets try some facts that we can hopefully all agree on.

1. Iran leader said "I'l like to see zionism wiped off the map (or words that mean basically the same thing).

2. (from wiki) The phrase "Zionist entity" is used by Arab states, and by "politicians and intellectuals throughout the Arab world" Edzard Lutz describes it as "the traditional Arabic political term for Israel",

2. Iran is enriching uranium, and most rational people seem to think that it might possibly be for weapons, and will likely have enough of it to build a bomb by mid 2013, if they so choose.

How come we can't see that there might be a teeny problem here?

Re: Israel & US- What to do about Iran Nuke program?

it is the Iranians' right to enrich uranium, you realize that, don't you?

they say they won't enrich than 20% to stick with their commitment with the treaty they signed. if they withdraw from the treaty, they can enrich as much as they want to. there is no international law to stop them. that is what Israel did with the 200 or so nuclear weapons they are estimated to have.

who cares what they say? it's what they do. they have never attacked anyone. and what they said doesn't seem to be so threatening. they just want Zionism to disappear. Many people, including a lot of Israelis, have said that Zionism is racism. Google it to see.

No reason to beat the war drums.
