On the contrary. I think this is what makes the UK the best country in the world. The fact that the legal system is able to protect everyone within it despite strong political forces is a good thing, IMO.

We've seen what happens in other countries and at other times when the rights of ordinary people are steamrollered, or when the system picks and chooses who gets to have rights and who are denied them.

You know what really annoys me about this kind of thing.
If you were to ask the public to vote on this I am pretty sure there would be an overwhelming vote to kick him out right now, no questions asked and a queue of volunteers to show him the door.

It's one thing to describe and speculate and another to have proof and take somebody to trial. I'd rather have the court system than a series of witch-hunts based on hearsay.

Which is why I hope, as expected, the Tories win the 2015 election and do as they have pledged and scrap this human rights act.

It only serves to trample on the rights of the decent and protect the scum that do not respect the rights of others to not be blown up and have their values imposed upon by fanatical terror preachers who hate everything about the UK and its laws and people, so they say, but of course use the laws and benefits to live there.

i'd also support the UK abandoning the ECHR. the UK has managed to do fine on the human rights front prior to the ECHR. the EU courts and European Court of Human Rights are a joke in any case.

though ECHR is now a condition of being in the EU so the UK would have to leave the EU too, which i'd also be pleased with.

Hmmm... big high profile case with a clearly unpopular character making a mockery of British law and tradition by defending himself with the human rights act. Government announces that it intends to repeal the law if re-elected. Everybody cheers. Government comes in for another term. Human rights law repealed. Everybody cheers. Government would never take the piss. Oh, no. If you're a good person, you've got nothing to worry about. Oh, yes.

Well given the millions of high profile cases showing human rights to be protecting and over bearing the rights of law abiding peaceful citizens, it is no wonder a large percentage of the UK want it scrapped, I think polls showed it was over half but who can really say. I do not know anyone who disagrees, but they're always on here funny enough.

Currently the system serves only to enhance the growing divide in social cohesion and racism within the country which is not looking pretty.

The UK is sinking, and at a rapid rate. Immigration, economy, and situations like this are just all creating the stewing pot of the inevitable explosion.

Is it any wonder the far right parties are getting more exposure these days?
