> Dodi el-Fayed however was heir of the Fayed Empire and the Kashoggi Empire (his mother was the sister of Adnan el-Fayed) and so was an apparent target of an assassination attempt. Whomever did such an assassination would of course have accepted the death of the Princess of Wales as collateral damage
> Another aspect is the possibility that the heavily drunk Dodi Fayed who sat to the right of the driver may have distracted the driver and so have caused the accident
Don't you just love the Internet.

Re: Diana - Will we ever know?

There are many authors of books about the crash, some with multiple books, and what better way of selling books than to repeat the theory that Prince Philippe was to blame?

Personally I don't now give a hoot about the crash, time to move on!

HISTORY REPEATING
The Daily and Sunday Express return to form rehashing pages of ‘new’ utter drivel about the car accident that killed the Princess of Wales.

Christpher Hitchens made a good commentary - see You Tube 'Christopher Hitchens on Princess Diana'.

For me it's this woman's life in a nut shell.
Watched the video as per your suggestion and the only thing I could see was what an incredible snob and pompous twat Chrstopher Hitchens seems to be.

Was.

And i think he was one of the most knowledgable, erudite and straightforward commentators of his generation

Whenever anybody famous dies there's always some conspiracy theory, unless it's of old age.
There must be still a lot of people out there who think that famous people cannot die of ordinary things because they think these people are more important.

Re: Diana - Will we ever know?

Think that whoever she was, whatever she did, Princess Diana did a lot to expose the hypocrisy, secrecy and snobbishness surrounding the Royal family.

Seen from a certain angle, they have a lot to thank her for because, before her entrance onto the royal stage, they were becoming dangerously unpopular and people were increasingly disillusioned with their distance and seeming indifference to the reality of everyday life for most of the subjects.

Although not intentionally, she forced changes for the better onto the Royal family and the way they reacted to the public etc. because of the enormous amount of public sympathy and affection she generated. I, for one, think well done Diana. Job well done.

To paraphrase : she was pretty and the papers liked to photograph her.
The rest is just making up a modern myth from not much reality.

That's right.

Here is a mob of disgruntled subjects venting their dissatisfaction with the distant and unpopular royal family all the way back in 1977:

Just look at that naked rage!

I was actually thinking how little food was on the childrens' plates.

And the parents didn't get any!

No wonder there was no obesity then.

Re: Diana - Will we ever know?

The thing that struck me the most bizarre about all the theories is that the other car allegedly involved in the murder is by all accounts a white Fiat Panda.

If I was a Paparazzi low life hardly making a living, that would be the sort of wheels I drive. If I was some professional hitman/secret agent/illuminati and have the funds to "make it look like an accident" would I choose a different weapon to push an s series merc into a pillar.

My dad once had an accident in his e series with a Fiat and I can tell you that you rather want to be in the Merc.

Re: Diana - Will we ever know?

The worst thing is the cost.
It has cost the British tax payer millions to keep going over the same evidence and getting the same results each time - the driver was drunk and crashed.
Can we have a few libraries back if we don't do another investigation into the Diana death?

I was there! Well, not in that photo but in another similar one (not that any of the street parties looked particularly different). There was lots of food but it was rationed. Can't remember now what we ate (apart from the cake) but it involved two or three trips up to get some food.

You're thinking of the Coronation, love. I know it's difficult to remember when you're getting on a bit.

I always assumed it was a wildlife thing.

But then, I only ever watch until the bit with the cat.

A couple years ago I saw the result of a head-on between a Ferrari and a Smart.

The Smart won.
