On TV a Doctor is saying it Looks bad for him.
My mum died last year after having fallen into a coma. The doctors said that she would be an invalid if she did wake up again... So that does not give me much hope for Michael Schumacher... I wish him all the best of course, but...

Quote's from Doctors at the Grenoble hospital where he is being treated: "10.07am The doctors say that he "wouldn't be here now" if he had not been wearing a helmet. They also state that every year they deal with similar accidents inmvolving skiiers in this resort."
from BBC site. So seems helmets do make a difference.

Wishing him a speedy and complete recovery. Certainly hope we get good news before his 45th birthday on the 3rd January.

Although perilously ill, there is still hope for Michael. He is relatively young, strong and fit.
My father suffered a massive brain haemorrhage at the same age when we were living abroad. He was struck in the temple by a golf ball at full pelt whilst playing golf and, although suffering no visible signs of serious injury, luckily his golfing partner was a surgeon who erred on the side of caution and took him to hospital.
With serious, traumatic head injuries, speed is of the essence. Michael is very lucky in that he received specialist treatment quickly too.
Full recovery will take time, of course, but praying that Michael pulls through.

Why do they have to keep him so cold whilst in a coma? I tried to Google it but couldn't come up with a row of words to give a sensible answer.

It helps to protect the brain from further injury, it is now routine in some cases of brain injury or operations to put the patient into a near hypothermic state for this reason. Think of those little kids who get lost in the snow or in frozen rivers who are then resuscitated with no brain damage even though they have been deprived of oxygen for many minutes; that is where the idea came from. | Quote: | | | | Why do they have to keep him so cold whilst in a coma? Considering that all the press have received the same reports on his condition, it is wrong that the headlines vary so much: | Quote: | | | | Michael Schumacher: Former Formula One world champion in an 'extremely serious' condition after serious skiing accident | | | | | | Quote: | | | | Schumacher 'in critical condition' after hitting head on rock during skiing accident in French Alps | | | | | | Quote: | | | | Michael Schumacher in a coma: Former F1 champion 'fights for his life' after brain haemorrhage following skiing accident | | | | | |

In other words, when he first had the accident, after being momentarily unconscious. he appeared to be quite lucid. As is often the case with these injuries, the true extent of the injury (in this case a brain haemorrhage) is not immediately apparent.

Shoked by all the articles about schumi's life as if he was dead...
All thoughts should go for the worst battle he has been through and for his relatives.

The journalists of the daily press understand about this "medicinish" language as much as I do, but have to deliver their report. Those of the weekly / weekend press will be in a far more comfortable position and their reports will be far better

How immediately Wikipedia has updated profile with news about the accident and is probably one click away of adding the dates ... Let's hope not.
I can understand if it were grand slam final Nadal vs Djokovic the praise notes must be prepared beforehand but laying result in ones hand about life and death, it must be very morose and dreadful practice.
I still hope that Schumi will pull thorough it and wish him all the best.

Some are probably more in-depth than others, but they've usually got something to run with.
