The French papers have been spot on though, everything they have said has been confirmed days later. They must be getting info from a member of hospital staff... I'm surprised the hospital haven't dealt with that!

I just thought yesterday that my High German was so bad when I read it in 20Mintues that Schumacher contracted lung infection
Actually, it turned out to be true: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...infection.html |

Some small sign he's returning: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-26541565
Fingers crossed all will eventually be well with him.

It's a sad fact of life but I am pretty sure someone with less money would have had their life support machine turned off by now.
With all the reports and 'rumours' it would seem that if he was to 'recover' he would have no quality of life.

I can understand the family holding onto all hope. But I don't think MS is the kind of person that would cope well with being disabled should he wake up. I hope his family consider this.

Whether that's true for anyone else, if they can afford it that's their decision.
I think it's too early to say what quality of life he may or may not have. The brain is a remarkable creation so we'll just have to continue waiting and hoping for further improvements.

I spoke to someone who knows one of his nurses this week. Her opinion was that he would not regain conciousness.

But in all honesty, I really doubt it in this case (considering that there is probably little about this case that we don't know).
Which is truly absurd, considering that he has been driving around in a 700 HP coffin for pretty much all of his life, only to die by basically falling onto a rock in the wrong angle, with near zero speed.
I assume, though, that he has a patient's provision (given his previous occupation plus his reputation for being a bit of a control-freak) and doctors, family-members will act accordingly, no doubt.

His wife is hoping to bring him home to a special facility being built at their property. http://www.thelocal.ch/20140330/schu...-medical-suite
Who knows? Maybe a change of place will have some effect on him. Normal sounds of familiar things going on around him.

Michael Schumacher has shown "moments of consciousness", according to his agent.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion suffered a severe head injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps on 29 December, and has been kept in a coma to help reduce the swelling in his brain.
Just come across on the BBC.

I'm watching the latest set of documentaries by Louis Theroux. This time he is in LA and a couple of weeks ago he visited people who were dying from various conditions.
One guy had come into the high dependency unit from his initial emergency care after an overdose. He had brain damage. His prognosis was "very poor" and his family were told that he would never recover from his persistent vegetative state. His scans consistently showed no improvement and all tests pointed to the same outcome; they should switch off his life support.
The family, obviously, wanted to keep fighting and the hospital staff were doing their best to manage their expectations, as well as give them a gentle reality check.
After 37 days, he started showing signs of awareness and started responding to various stimuli.
When the camera crews came back a couple of weeks later, he was awake, eating from a spoon and able to answer simple questions.
The follow up several months later showed him walking back into the hospital to meet the team that cared for him. He had made a virtually full recovery.
I'm not saying this will happen with Schumacher but sometimes the medical professionals get it wrong. The brain is probably still far too complex for us to understand fully.

New rumour that he is out of ICU. http://www.abendzeitung-muenchen.de/...bafaff72f.html
No update from Kehm though, last update was early April. Does anyone live in Gland? Go and bang on her door and ask for an update |

Until there's an official announcement on his condition then everything else is pure speculation. For every article that says he's improving there's another one that says there's little or no hope.
Personally I take all reports regarding his current condition with a large pinch of salt.

Now he lies in a special sort-of bed, attached to tubes and machines, having therapy to keep his muscles from atrophying.
Very sad, for everyone involved.
