| | Bankers committing suicide.
So far, the 8th banker has jumped to his death. http://intellihub.com/8th-internatio...uilding-china/ String of suspicious deaths:
1 – William Broeksmit, 58-year-old former senior executive at Deutsche Bank AG, was found dead in his home after an apparent suicide in South Kensington in central London, on January 26th.
2- Karl Slym, 51 year old Tata Motors managing director Karl Slym, was found dead on the fourth floor of the Shangri-La hotel in Bangkok on January 27th.
3 – Gabriel Magee, a 39-year-old JP Morgan employee, died after falling from the roof of the JP Morgan European headquarters in London on January 27th.
4 – Mike Dueker, 50-year-old chief economist of a US investment bank was found dead close to the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in Washington State.
5 – Richard Talley, the 57 year old founder of American Title Services in Centennial, Colorado, was found dead earlier this month after apparently shooting himself with a nail gun.
6 -Tim Dickenson, a U.K.-based communications director at Swiss Re AG, also died last month, however the circumstances surrounding his death are still unknown.
7 – Ryan Henry Crane, a 37 year old executive at JP Morgan died in an alleged suicide just a few weeks ago. No details have been released about his death aside from this small obituary announcement at the Stamford Daily Voice.
8 - Li Junjie, 33-year-old banker in Hong Kong jumped from the JP Morgan HQ in Hong Kong this week. "deaths among finance workers has shaken London and raised more concerns about stress levels of bankers.",
perhaps it was a moral conscious that drove them to their deaths.
However, it is really interesting how the banker that committed suicide with a nail gun needed 11 tries.
Doesn't sound like "suicide" to me.

Sounds like conspiracy nonsense to me, and calling everyone who works in a bank or in a company's finance dept a 'banker' is stretching it.

Poor misunderstood 'bankers'
it seems the Occupy or 99% movements really must have hurt their feelings?
That, or they couldn't order a new Ferrari in the colour they wanted.

Basically no risk, short days, lots of technical research and meetings.....

Im glad that some people can find levity in suicide.
For all their faults, I'm not aware of anything that bankers (however loosely defined) have done to deserve a death sentence.
(Incidentally, are eight suicides among quite a large group of people significantly higher than expected?)

I do good honest work with computers. They don't even make anything. Right, I'm off to see if they'll let me 600 grand I never earned so I can buy my own home. Byeeee

| | | | | No. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti...1/#!po=30.5556
Note, this paper compared the eighties to the pre-recession noughties, as there seems to be economic influences, the rate of professional suicides would be expected to increase after 2008.

Quite aside from the ill-advised conspiracy nonsense, how does an MD at Tata Motors get classified as a banker?
There seems to be an unfortunate politics of envy working these days, where anyone making a good living in a financial (or automotive!?) sector is seen as an evil "banker".
I work in a bank, and way less than 1% of staff here are bankers and of those less than 1%, only a tiny fraction are actually people you would classify as the reckless sociopaths that anyone working here seems to be labelled as.

Am I a bad person?
I keep laughing to myself when I think of that guy shooting himself 11 times with a nail gun.
He really wanted to die !!!..... he just wasn't very good at it.
I'm not sure if I should be appalled at his weapon of choice, or admire his persistence.

I am sure as a percentage of their profession, the number of bankers topping themselves is far lower than police, teachers, students or factory workers taking their own lives(lets not mention Foxconn).
Bankers have probably been responsible for driving many more people to suicide than this, so if a few of their own fall I guess that is Karma.

Maybe you are amused because it was an evil banker? And because most if not all bankers earn a fortune but underneath all that are so incompetent that they cannot commit suicide properly?
Personally I imagine a guy with terrible stress and depression who cannot cope any more, and is so desparate to end their pain that they repeatedly fire this nail gun eleven times into their brain in a fit of despair.
Yeah, hilarious.

It would be interesting to get a feel for people's gradation of "Evil" though - which is worse - someone potentially earning a high salary working at a bank or enjoying the death of a fellow human?
