The Russians lost more tanks in Grozny than in Berlin in 1945. | | | | | No surprise. 14 year olds were fighting Russian tanks in Berlin in 45. Different topic though.

Looks like Ukraine and Russia are going to talk, with the Swiss help. Hope the fighting will stop. | Quote: | | | | Federal President Cassis is in contact with Russia's Foreign Minister Lavrov and the Ukrainian President Zelensky. In addition, the Federal Council is planning a special session on Sunday or Monday to implement the sanctions against Russia.
Diplomatic efforts are in full swing in Bern to organize a peace conference to end the war in Ukraine. The immediate goal would be to reach a ceasefire. A corresponding request went on Saturday from the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the Swiss Federal President Ignazio Cassis. This request authorizes Switzerland to act as a neutral mediator, officially and in accordance with international law. A meeting of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, which has long been planned for next Monday and Tuesday, could be a welcome occasion. | | | | | https://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/schweiz...n-129475547083 |

These days it doesn't seems too unrealistic.

With how things are going so far, why should UA negotiate? But unfortunately this will only get uglier and Putin could go very far. In principle I am with you on neutrality. But it might not be the worst if you could get Russia to accept this, withdraw, and the UA long game is for a post-Putin time.
Not sure any of this is realistic. I actually see all of this develop rather painful.

" A NATO military official claims that Russia is spinning its slow advance in the invasion of Ukraine as having stopped to allow time for negotiations.
“They are having problems,” the official explained, pointing to the alliance’s latest intelligence. “They lack diesel, they are proceeding way to slow and morale is obviously an issue.”"

| | Re: Ukraine- what can WE do here in CH to help?
I know that my advice is really general and counter-intuitive in this sad time, but we cannot still push out the Russians (as a whole nation) from European culture and mentality. Because otherwise they will always stick to another tzar-alike, sociopathic leader like Lenin/Stalin/Putin/***in.
I believe the European values are somewhere in them, and you can see that by the scale of protests in Russia (even though that's very risky for those people).

Putin and all his helpers (Russian or not) can go f--- themselves. This is about values and attitude, not passport.

In an announcement late today, the White House said, in concert with the European Commission, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and Canada, the US is backing the expulsion of “selected Russian banks” from SWIFT.

Would be also good if Putin kneeled down before every Ukrainian family who lost it's family member in this war since 2014 and begged for forgiveness.

Germany have said they would support some selective cutting off (probably meaning they can still pay for gas). So I don't know this has teeth.
