For once, not an area of expertise for me. But there is a good piece in the FT (surprisingly accessible):

Yes, in line with what I meant. From the article:

"The reserves — worth $630bn, as of the end of January — are made up of assets and deposits denominated in the world’s major currencies (that is, the dollar, euro, sterling and the yuan). As well as almost 2,300 tonnes of gold..."

"The sanctions imposed by the US, EU and UK against the central bank are likely to render a lot, if not quite all, of these reserves useless..."

Yes, but quite a bit in gold, yuan and/or assets in China with an option that China helps them to trade at least to an extent. I simply wanted to say they will not be at "zero", but of course it is a powerful sanction.

Fair. As the resident strategists here, we have reached an agreement

Watch those humorous videos showing the actual ferocious fighting between the forces. Soldiers morale shows that nobody really believes in any senseless killing one brother onto one another except for the Russian presidents agenda.

If you read the announcement, it's actually much more than the title suggests. Basically, every business is FORCED to sell 80% of it's foreign currency revenue to the state. Residents are also banned from transferring funds abroad. These are desperate measures to shore up foreign currency, but it is exactly this - desperate.

Putin says recognition of Crimea key to ending war

Russian President Vladimir Putin told his French counterpart on Monday that the demilitarisation of Ukraine and Western recognition of Russian sovereignty over the Crimean peninsula were prerequisites to ending fighting in Ukraine, the Kremlin said.

"Vladimir Putin stressed that a settlement is possible only if Russia's legitimate security interests are unconditionally taken into account, including the recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea, the demilitarisation and denazification of the Ukrainian state and ensuring its neutral status," according to a Kremlin readout of the call.

The Ukranians need to think about that. But...there's no guarantee Mr. Putin doesn't want another piece of Ukraine some years down the road.

Also, no mention of NATO. So, did all the provocations from NATO doesn't matter anymore?

Would Ukraine ceding Crimea mean they weren't occupied any more, and free to join NATO?

Tell it to the citizens of Kharkiv who are being shelled by multiple rocket launchers BM-21 "Grad". Awful videos with limbs torn off. So the senseless killing of brothers is OK for Russians if they don't see how people die?

Ukraine will never want to be demilitarised after what has happened. And I don't understand at all what is denazification.

Not sure that's what Vova meant with demilitarization. If you are UA, that would be something to think about.

Sure, not to demean the courage of the oppressed and aggression of the oppressors. As they always say, the truth lies somewhere in the middle and everyone wonders how much fake news is cruising around:
