The joke of the evening in Russian Telegram channels... 🙂

Biden, Blinken and several other senior US officials not permitted to enter Russia.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/russia-...ken-sanctions/
Hunter Biden was also banned from entering Russia, which will really destroy Ukraine.

.. maybe he really does want to resurrect the USSR.
He has said that. Together with his fictionalisation of Ukrainian history, it's pretty clear.

Call me ignorant, doesn't bother me much. What I am interested in is a view of why Russia should be justified to wage war against Ukraine. I am not saying Ukraine is a saint, I am merely asking if war was the right decision and if yes, what are the arguments for this war.

Putin moments that I have seen were staged but that news bulletin looked like it was live broadcast.

Do you think they have a reason to stage that specific moment?
noone broadcasting live nowdays. all have dalays 15-30-etc seconds
I have no proofs but out from my memory i can recall that russia stopped live broadcastings at the beginning of war with UA in 2014

I am genuinely interested in your point of view. Can you please clarify your position? Why do you think Russia has not necessarily the right, but valid reasons for that war?
well, its a long long story
there is a lot of reasons they started the war: historical, medicine etc
fro historical PoV russia w/o Ukraine is exactly nothing
Moscow was founded by ukrainians, russian language was created partially based on slavic languages including ukrainian etc etc. So existing of Ukraine is dismissing a lot of russian propaganda fairy tales like mother russia and so on
the only way to keep their fairy tale on float - eliminate Ukraine.
this is the main subconscious reason (there was sudden leakage of ru newspaper article, which shed some light on this)
medicine... see CIA reports of putin's drags sideeffects
Nato..totals bullshit. If Nato would like to capture russia, UA as a buffer would not prevent this in any way

Re: World War 3 or just a local spat in Ukraine?

While the discussions of (delayed) TV are interesting, I'm somehow irritated that the prevailing opinion seems to be that, unlike Le Pen or Zemmour, Macron be the anti-Putin Russia-realist. Neither Le Pen nor Zemmour were yet put to test (and better be not), but Macron has demonstrated naivety (or strategic ignorance) just a few years ago, having met Putin in Brégançon when he ordered the French rapprochement with Russia, and haven't minced his words dressing down the "deep state" career diplomats for having ingrained resistance against such change.
Just to remind, his own words, no paywall:
Le Figaro : Macron secoue la diplomatie française

Re: World War 3 or just a local spat in Ukraine?

Ugh! What have I been just reading...? The UN secretary general is saying that nuclear war is on the table, it´s no longer abstract but in the realm of possibility.
By now I am starting to wish that the buggers would just get it over with.

"Both Ukraine and Russia claim that they are the descendant of the former medieval empire of Kievan Rus’ – and thus the successors of the first East Slavic Orthodox state.
Statues of the founding father Vladimir the Great stand in both Moscow and Kyiv."

How this ancient history gets spun into a reason to combine these two countries is beyond me

Makes as much sense as Germany invading UK because both have roots in the Saxons or more realistically vice versa.

Ukraine would express it's deep concern about the act of violation of the international law.

They want to steal our history. The statue of Volodymyr in Moscow was opened only in 2016 when Putin was already preparing for the war. The monument of Volodymyr in Kyiv was built in 1853. Feel the difference.

Don't agree he wants to go back to USSR. I think his methods are Soviet. But the ideology is one of reestablishing a Pan-Russian empire in line with the Czarist Russia, i.e. rather based on ethnic/religious considerations. His (2021?) essay on why Russian and Ukrainians are one people is along these lines.

Israel's claim was even more ancient one and still is being used till this day to justify its further expansion. Don't underestimate the power of a shared mythology.

Luckily it's shared only in one country which military power seemed to be highly overestimated.
