It would have been more meaningful if the divide in Germany followed the West/East divide from 30 years ago

East Germany was ~110 sq km, a bit less than the occupied territory in Ukraine.

At the same time we all remember how the "special operation" was supposed to be a few weeks thing...3 months ago. And we also remember the 7 days to the Rhine as well, so what's your point?

According to Tass, the Russian central bank, which targets inflation of 4%, said the annual increase in consumer prices was on track to reach to 18-23% in the whole of 2022; only double the inflation rate in the West

i just find all the fake news rather funny. also that people still actually believe it! but as i said, reality always catches up to fantasy (and im pretty sure the idea that putler said the special operation would only last a few weeks is more fake news too)

Actually in the real world, if you look at the map below you can see Putin has made considerable troop withdrawals and the Ukrainians are still pushing them back; the incredibly shrinking occupation army.

You are not quoting correctly. This particular snippet is only re Donbas, not about the overall situation in Ukraine. This is the full quote:

Nobody questions that Russia has not achieved any of its targets. But it is undoubtedly making some progress in the Donbas (at enormous cost) and even if its offensive stalls, I doubt Ukraine can push them back to their pre-war positions.

Which means Russia will sit on that land and this will be another forever conflict that will cost Ukraine, Russia and the West a lot.
