Ukraine today (yet again) has announced a combined air and ground offense to retake Kherson, I will believe it when I see some results. Funny way to run a war to announce the next steps.... | | | | | The latest Ukraine claims are they captured four villages near Kherson, broke the Russian defence line in three places and the Russians are fleeing.
It will be some days before we know if this is real or wishful thinking, hopefully there will be satellite photos.
For those who read Ukrainian.

1) ask for weapons and cash
2) announce an offensive
3) have a skirmish and use some of the equipment (the tax)
4) exaggerate the equipment used and lost
5) sell the majority of the unused weapons
6) Go back to step 1 | | | | | Are you sure you even know what money laundering is?
money laundering; is the concealment of the origins of illegally obtained money, typically by means of transfers involving foreign banks or legitimate businesses.
What you are describing has nothing to do with money laundering.
I don't agree this is what Ukraine is doing; what you are describing is a type of fraud known as “obtaining property by false pretenses,”

Seems the Brits are starting to be fed up with the open spigot feeding the UA trough. (and the sticker shock in the daily lives) https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/s...igue-vdqgkzr6w
Just curious, does this make the people interviewed Kremlin agents or did the Times get bought out by Pravda?

| | Re: World War 3 or just a local spat in Ukraine? | Quote: | | | | | I'm not so sure about that. Every visit of Russians in EU may be a scratch on Putin's "propaganda shield". Maybe it will bring more awareness to Russian heads.
And additionally, they leave money here, whereas Europeans are not leaving money in Russia. | | | | | They might leave money and...spies. https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/russian...eneva/47706444
Anyways, I think a total ban is nonsense. There are medical, humanitarian, family etc reasons for which a visa should be granted.
There are two currents in the EU, with Czech Republic and Finland wanting a total ban and Germany and a few others wanting a selective visa system.
I hope reason and humanity will prevail....even when we think it shouldn't. Besides some (many?) people really want to get away from that regime and they even have reasons to do so.

Surely there's nothing standing in the way of them defecting to 'the West' if they cannot get a visa.

According to a Russian source, yes the Russians, Ukraine has broken through the Russian frontline and is now south of Kostromka, Kherson oblast, some 15/20 KM deep into Russian-occupied territory.
If true this would be incredible as during the last couple of months both sides were cheering advances of just hundreds of meters.
Either this is a complete fantasy or the Russian forces are in complete disarray.
It could be a Russian trap but with the advanced Ukraine satellite coverage (although cloudy skies) a trap should be seen.
The road on the right is the T2207 which is the main Russian supply route to Davydiv Brid and is now obstructed by Ukraine. |

People defect when they are forbidden to leave the country, not when they are refused entry.
'I was denied Schengen visa - I will now defect to Schengen area'...
seriously...
