I'm polishing up my bunker downstairs just in case.
Nuclear weapons are so old school compared to what both sides have today. Don't worry about cleaning out your bunker cause you won't need it. Both sides know what the other side has so I'm confident of no war between the US and Russia. If there is then kiss the planet goodbye. No cash required.
In a surprise move France has surrendered to Russia; they said the Russian troops were getting too close to home
Newspaper article here.
Some of the comments are better than the article, for example "we need to organize resistance quickly, as the Russian invading forces might arrive within the next
seventy years "
and
"Going to war without the French is like going deer hunting without an accordian. --Norman Schwartzkopf"

It is a BBC documentary showing ways in which Putin used the media to portray an image of himself for propaganda purposes. The footage was taken from Russian television.
You are getting a little desperate.

So than the BBC is unaware of spreading Russian propaganda! Why don't you call them and let them know?!
How come they can do referendums so quick and the UK government takes years.
Unconstitutional of course, but with Russia in control there's not going to be much anyone can to do stop them defecting from Ukraine. And it'll pass of course with most of the population being of Russian descent.
The tone is mainly humorous, but not always. The last part refers to the assassination of the journalist Anna Politkovskaya, who had been critical of Russian policy in Chechnya, on Putin's birthday, followed by footage of Alexander Litvinenko saying he thought Putin was behind it, followed by footage of Litvinenko dying of polonium poisoning in hospital.
It includes this clip of Putin putting the chills on another journalist, and this one of him making US/French celebs watch him perform. (Could he be related to Princess Margaret ?!)
The documentary also shows him finding the vases, then shows people chatting in a Russian TV show and someone, who was apparently involved in filming him, saying the vases were planted so that he had something to find.

About "with most of the population being of Russian descent" - According to the 2001 Ukrainian population census;-
58% of the population of Crimea are ethnic Russians ,
24% are ethnic Ukrainians,
12% Tartars.
The region has the highest proportion of Muslims in Ukraine.
How can you not like Putin, he sure is one though MF setting straight Russian billionaires on live TV protecting the working class
Imagine this happening in the Western world, haha, but no, money talks
You sound like one of my friends who is convinced of this, and also of the fact that Putin protects traditional Russian values...I asked her -like family values, right? That is why he divorced from his "old" wife for a twenty something y.o. gymnast..
Now listen here, Putin! I'm the big boss of the biggest, most powerful nation in the world, and I'm telling you to... what are you smirking at? What? What's up?

Well, to make long story short. During the 26-28th of February, some green mysterious men have appeared in Crimea wearing a russian type uniform, with Kalashnikovs. They have blocked the Crimean parliament and on a closed session the Crimean parliament declared that there will be a referendum on 25s of May 2014. Here is the video of the green men coming to Crimean parliament during the night:
The parliament said that majority of the deputies have accepted this decision, but the strangest fact is, that some of the deputies were not even in the building that day.
Later, the mysterious green men started to block the Ukrainian military bases asking them to give up and move the side of "republic of Crimea".
At the same time, since none of the military bases of Ukraine moved the the "republic of Crimea" side the Crimean deputies have decided to move the referendum date to 30st of March 2014.
On the 1st March of 2014 the Russian president Vladimir Putin has sent a message to the Russian Parliament:
"Due to an extraordinary situation in Ukraine I ask the parliament to allow me to use the Russian military troops to protect the russian speaking population of Crimea".
Several minutes later the Parliament with 0 rejections has supported the idea of Putin.
In a few days later, Putin was asked a question: who are these green men in Crimea wearing a russian like uniform.
The Putin's answer was: "they are self-defense people of Crimea. They are not Russian soldiers."
When he was asked "why the uniform is so similar to Russian army" he replied:
"In post soviet republics the military uniform is very alike. You can go to a shop and buy any type of uniform"
He did not said, though, where in the shop in Ukraine you can buy Kalashnikovs, grenade launchers, armored vehicles and battle ships.
Starting from 5th of March it was clear that the Putin's plan was not so successful, because the military basis of Ukraine are still reporting to government in Ukraine, so the Crimean parliament decides the following:
1. It accepts a law that says that Crimea is going to be a part of Russia
2. It moves the referendum data from 30st of March to 16th of March
Meanwhile, the amount of green men is increasing and here is a few videos how they are trying to scare the Ukrainian soldiers marching towards their military base unarmed:
The unarmed Ukrainian soldiers are singing the anthem of Ukraine and when the shots are heard, they continue to go forward.
Another example, is, green men are leaving the Ukrainian base after Ukrainians refused to disarm and move to the side of "Crimean republic"
At the same time, the mysterious green men are moving across Crimea and making different checkpoints. Yesterday the border patrol plain of Ukraine was fired at one of these checkpoints:
(shots are seen in the end of the movie)
Overall, it all looks like a massive invasion of Russian Federation to Ukrainian territory. It looks like they are playing the same card as in Georgia in 2008, however, Ukranian response is different. Instead of confronting them they try to see the diplomatic solution.

I today saw a map of the Crimea where you could see that the Ukaininan navel bases are on the western side of the peninsula (some 20%) while the Russian ones on the rest. So that it is obvious that the "compromise" will be that most of the Krim and Southeast Ukraine will go to Russia
I don't think any part of Ukraine will go to Russia. I saw today in news that Ukraine is moving some heavy weaponry into the south part of country.
In my feeling, if there will be no diplomatic solutions found, the diplomacy will end, and the old style way of resolving conflicts will be engaged: war.
