Re: Australia - what is going on?

It's a strange style of politics they have going on down there. Elect someone, realise they hate them, deny ever having voted for the bastard. Oust them and start all over again. Julia did it to Kevin who did it back to Julia. Then Julia did it again and then everyone got kicked out. And now Malcolm has done it to Tony.

Just elect someone good ffs!!!!

You have to remember that we (the people) don't elect the PM. It's the upper leadership of the ruling party that does that , and they're the ones that have done a terrible job of late. Maybe they should all be swept out and fresh, more representative people put in their place.

Definitely not, in this case -- I haven't voted since 2008!

Australia. Where voting is compulsory, and the results don't matter.

Only one small problem, not many good choices.

I have often pondered what would have happened if Costello grew a pair and ousted Howard, 5 Prime ministers in 5 years is not a good look. Politics is all hidden deals so I wonder how much Malcolm will have to give in to get things moving forward. Not dissimilar to what Obama faced/faces in the US, selective media reporting seems to highlight the problems rather than the successful legislation changes, by definition of the amount of passed legislation Julia Gillard was quite successful but not if you follower her in the media.
