Re: Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 missing

yes and several sources claim the mozambique debris is most definitely from the ill fated plane http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKCN0WQ041
"The discovery is likely to add to pressure from the public for the search to go on beyond a mid-2016 schedule for it to be wound up. "

Search to be suspended after they've covered the current area.

Will become one of the great mysteries of aviation history unless they get a lucky break some time in the future.

Re: Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 missing

A large item of debris found off the coast of Tanzania belongs to the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, Australian investigators say.

Re: Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 missing

"Wreckage analysis suggests Flight MH370 did not make a controlled descent into the Indian Ocean, says a new report.

The Boeing 777 disappeared while flying to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur with 239 people on board in March 2014.

The report from Australian investigators suggests the aircraft's wing flaps were in a "cruise" position when it hit the ocean surface.

It casts further doubt on the theory supported by some analysts that someone was in control of the plane's descent."

Can someone explain to me why the search vessel seems to be searching the 6-12 month old debris area and not the 0-6, which seems the logical place to be looking? After all, supposedly that's the crash area, isn't it?

They've probably searched the bottom fairly extensively in the 0-6 area and not found anything, which would indicate that they are looking in the wrong area, so the 6-12 would be the next best choice.

There won't be many large bits floating anymore by this time, and even if they find floating bits in the 12-24 zone the current and winds will have carried them so far that they won't gain any info which would lead them back to the main wreckage. (other than that it is somewhere in the 0-12 zone).
