Five (5) years of the Iraq war

Reuters slide show- http://iraq.reuters.com/

What a place Iraq has become all in the name of WMDs! So what do you predict for next 5 years? Improvement or more chaos? Will US still be there in 5 years time? Either way Iraq probably will burn for a long time
Yanks + Islamists + Saddamists + Shia/Sunni conflict = Hell on Earth for average Iraqi!

Re: Five (5) years of the Iraq war

I think foreign forces will be in Iraq for many years to come, certainly beyond another 5. I think Iraq will be ground into the dust, until absolutely nothing remains.

When Iraq has been pillaged and destroyed, then we will walk out. Of course we all know this ties into the policy of keeping the middle-east unstable, so will we ever really leave it alone, I don't really know.

Re: Five (5) years of the Iraq war

Well , there is definitely more than 5 years worth of oil reserves sitting below Iraq .... Also , with the instability , what better place for old weapons to be used so that a new stock pile can be purchased from the weapons manufacturers who are backing the war ....

So my guess is , they will be there for much longer than 5 years ...

Re: Five (5) years of the Iraq war

Been there, done it, got the t-shirt.

Was in Saudi and Southern Iraq in 90/91 when daddy Bush kicked Iraqi troops out of Kuwait (actually Bush didn't do it [what a joke], the air, sea and ground troops did!). The result is history. One may have thought, that we learned from the mistakes made by Bush Sr.

But nooooo..........

Bush Jr. wanted to be so much like daddy... he has really dug himself a hole this time (at the expense of many troops, civilians and taxpayers $$).

In my opinion foreign forces will be there for some time to come. With sufficient supply, the economical interest in the natural resources is immense. The sum of the two (supply + interest) equals occupation/police action/or whatever you want to call it. Surely you have heard the saying: "Trust is good, control is better."

In 90/91 it was obvious that the Iraqis (even the Saudis) survived (and were satisfied) with very little. If they have even less today then they are an extremely poor folk. When the masses become restless and have nothing to loose, who knows what they are capable of... I don't want to even imagine what would happen if the foreign forces departed Iraq.

again, my2cents

And this stubborn, delusional cretin actually believes the Iraq war has been *worth it* What planet does this guy live on?

Honestly, I think the sun will rise in the west and set in the east before this guy ever admits he made a mistake or was wrong about anything

Re: Five (5) years of the Iraq war

I am so happy to be paying taxes for such a good cause.

What is worse is that dollar is being devalued against the franc, and therefore, I am earning more in terms of dollars. I.e. I get to
pay more taxes.

Re: Five (5) years of the Iraq war

Sad sad sad affaire...the whole bloody thing.
I actually have stored somewhere an analysis that was widely circulated about the reasons for attacking Iraq.
It was circulated by Merrill Lynch (the big US brokerage firm).
"Interesting" reading, unfortunately.
Let me see if I can dig it up... how can I post it so that the forum members can download it?

Bush hails Iraq 'victory' (BBC)

Edit:

Blah blah blah..."Meanwhile in Iraq, a female suicide bomber killed six people at a bus station in Balad Ruz in Diyala province, according to Iraqi police.
And near the northern city of Kirkuk, US troops shot dead three Iraqi policemen by mistake, an incident officials described as "a tragic accident, which was sincerely regretted". "

It's sad that it looks like it's all come down to oil!
Maybe all would be well now if the western govt.would have gone in against the whites in SA when they introduced their inhumane way of govt.

The west went into Iraq because of the oil but left SA because there was no oil.
