What is your source for saying "dubious blog" ? Eliot Higgins has a reasonable reputation in investigative journalism!
The issue here is not the credibility of bellingcat.com (which is controversial enough - see http://www.spiegel.de/international/...a-1037125.html ), the issue is the credibility of the Tages Anzeiger for lifting claims, wholesale from a blog, and republishing them verbatim, and that as a substitute for journalism.

Ah that well known non- dubious newspapers Spiegel and the opinion of a qualified biologist who admitted he is not able to detect photo shopped images!
Tagesanzeiger clearly quoted their source so what is your beef?

Do you regard the Spiegel Article as good journalism where they simply published an interview with no comments or other investigation?

Would have been more convincing if the biologist had studied the images in detail to refute Bellingcat?

Thank you for posting this year old rubbish; most of the so-called facts have long been refuted. For example, Malaysian airlines chose the route not the Ukraine!

Hilarious. Russia is now trying to blame Ukraine by saying that MH17 was shot down by an older BUK M1 that Russia doesn't have any more....

....some pics from Russia's 2015 military fair showing off their BUK M1 system to potential customers

So where are the older Russian BUK M1 systems; maybe not in active service but sitting in stores somewhere. Hard to believe they scrapped them?

From the pics above, it looks like they are selling them in their weapons fairs

Testimony from a Ukrainian military airfield staff member.

Evidence Is Now Conclusive: Two Ukrainian Government Fighter-Jets Shot Down Malaysian Airlines MH17. It was Not a ‘Buk’ Surface to Air Missile

The irony is that while these rabid EF Russophobes pile on anything that's not 100% pro post-coup Kiev, both their beloved Kiev and its prospective EU ally, The Netherlands (as well as their common US puppetmaster) — have been conspicuously silent about the evidence only they have access to (so far).

Has your EF account been hacked? I cannot think of any other reason why you have started reposting ancient articles?

This claim that these ground attack aircraft could get close enough to fire guns into the cockpit of an aircraft that is flying a couple of miles above these fighters maximum operational ceiling and is flying faster than the maximum that these fighters are capable of is just silly!

Re: Malaysian Airlines MH 17 has crashed over Ukraine

Russian is spoken in my home daily, I'd take exception to being called a "Russophobe". And since my family lives next to Russia, I'd love nothing more than for the West and Russia to get along, but it's kind of hard when Putin is sending tanks/troops into Ukraine and threatening it's neighbors.

...but back to MH17, the "conclusive evidence" about the fighter jets are no longer being talked about by anyone, except people who are months behind on the news. Russia now agrees it was shot down by a BUK. Have a look at my previous posts, they link to Russian state media sources.

The Dutch-lead investigation team to the MH17 disaster are proposing a UN international tribunal to formally prosecute the suspects....Russia is against it.

Quote:
The five countries of the Joint Investigation Team - Australia, Belgium, Malaysia, the Netherlands and Ukraine - met last week in New York to discuss the proposed international court.

Russia's Deputy foreign minister Gennady Gatilov was quoted by Russian news agencies as saying: "We are against it."

Re: Malaysian Airlines MH 17 has crashed over Ukraine

It was 1 year ago today that MH17 fell from the sky over the pro-Russian "DNR". The preliminary report by the Dutch-lead investigators blame a missile shot from pro-Russians, that was seemingly given to them by Russian military. It also said Malaysian Air was partly to blame for not reading warning notices that other airlines were.

Igor Girkin (aka "Strelkov") has been formally accused in US court.

Malaysia is seeking a UN-based international tribunal to prosecute those responsible for downing the aircraft, but Russia's President Vladimir Putin had said in a call to the Dutch PM that would be " counter-productive".

Russia used it's veto power tonight at the UN to block the Malaysian proposal for setting up an international tribunal to prosecute those responsible for the shooting down of MH17.

Russia was the only country at the UN to vote against the proposal.

Re: Malaysian Airlines MH 17 has crashed over Ukraine

Dutch technical report published today. It confirms the 777 was shot down by a BUK missile; no allocation of blame yet.

Moscow has dismissed the report before it was released; the Dutch responded "It's always special when people already know that they don't agree with a report that's not even published yet,"

Russians aren't quite happy that the report categorically dismissed one of their argued theories that MH17 was downed during an air to air attack.
Not surprised they didn't assign blame, since they have no power to do that. Only a court can do so, but Russia vetoed a UN Resolution calling for a Criminal Tribunal in relation to MH17.

About "Russians aren't quite happy that the report categorically dismissed one of their argued theories"
Interesting they could do that before the report was published which presumably explains if and why the theory was dismissed. As they say; do not destroy a good story with the truth.

Re: Malaysian Airlines MH 17 has crashed over Ukraine

It was obvious from the day it was shot down what had happened: Russia supplied anti-aircraft BUK's in E.Ukraine. They had shot down a couple of Ukrainian Air Force planes in the days/weeks prior, then, whoops...

Accidents happen, but in this case Russia will NEVER admit to it, because they have consistently denied their military involvement in E.Ukraine, so now they have to stick to that story on non-involvement, no matter what.

Altho ultimately the blame lies with Russia for supplying and firing the BUK, there also needs to be considered that Ukraine should have shut down commercial air traffic over E.Ukraine, and/or the airlines themselves should have took the precaution to re-route their flight routes.

In the beginning of the war, only shoulder-fired anti-aircraft rockets were used by the pro-Russians, and they could not reach the altitude of commercial air traffic. But in the week or so before MH17, Ukrainian Air Force planes flying above 3,000m were suddenly (and surprisingly) being shot down by pro-Russians, and that was a clear sign that newer and more sophisticated forms of anti-aircraft weapons had been introduced on the Russian side. This was written in normal media outlets, no reason the airlines and aviation authoritiesdidn't know about this. Or maybe they were aware, but didn't react fast enough.

Re: Malaysian Airlines MH 17 has crashed over Ukraine

Dutch PM asked Russia (again) to cooperate with a criminal investigation but seems unlikely they will ever do it.

The report focused on four themes: "The causes of the crash, the issue of flying over conflict areas, the reasons why Dutch surviving relatives had to wait for two to four days for confirmation from the Dutch authorities that their loved ones had been on the aeroplane, and lastly the question to what extent the occupants of flight MH17 consciously experienced the crash. "

(CNN)

Here the report.
