I wonder if we could have a worldwide whip-round to hire an assasin to take the muppet out? I'm sure there's a lot of mercs around looking for work since Iraq calmed down.

Surely this would be the most cost efficient way of dealing with him?

When did it calm down? You been watching CNN's SURGE docu or something? It's just the calm before the storm

More intimidation, now I read somewhere the Mugabe has sent the electoral guys counting the vote to court for "miscounts of presidential votes?"

Like WTF is this guy up too?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7336372.stm

SA need a slap for turning a blind eye to this. If anyting I see SA taking a lead in Africa to sort these messes out.

News.

[qoute]President Robert Mugabe has suffered a crushing defeat in Zimbabwe's election, taking only about 30 per cent of the vote, the opposition has claimed.

Now do bear in mind that it is unofficial but this would be great news for a wonderful nation if Mugabe has lost.

Fingers crossed
In all truth it doesn't really matter because that idiot Mugabe will coerce, lie, intimidate, cheat and kill to stay in power. Elections are but a formality for him and if things don't go his way in the end he'll just get the army to keep him in power. The man is sick, sick, sick, and I'd wish someone would do the world a favor and put a bullet in the guy's head. I mean seriously, the guy ed up the economy, been in power for 28 years, is a bazillion years old, has billions of dollars (not Zimbabwean of course, cuz that would be worth nothing) on his foreign accounts while his people die of malnutrition, and don't have jobs. I'm sure there's a nice and fiery warm place reserved for him in hell once he kicks the bucket, right next to the one reserved for Kim Jong Il.

Would be interesting if the hague/UN could seize these assets based on court evidence of theft and redestribute the cash back in the form of hospitals/schools/food/infrastructure (delete as applicable) to the people of the country that the money has ultimately been stolen from.

Nigeria could be in trouble too, based on this thought pattern with oil money.

As a wise person once said owning all the money in the world once your dead is little use, shame these people don't understand this simple concept. It's a matter of time before a bullet finds them.

On another note anyone remember the 2000 elections in Zimbabwe? Not much media coverage on that one!

Re: Zimbabwe: I hope this is true....Mugabe defeated

I think it is pretty disgusting that SA president Mbeki is not getting more involved in getting Bob knocked of his perch. There are a ton of Zimbabweans in SA that are just waiting for that to happen and then they will go back home. This would be great for SA!!

But Thabo will never get involved, him and Bob are close buddies...
What a cute couple they make...

zimbabwe-mugabe-story_mugabe_mbeki_ap.jpg

"Harare - Zimbabwe's opposition stepped up pleas for foreign help ahead of a second day of court hearings on Wednesday that could force the publication of long-awaited presidential election results. Eleven days on from the poll, President Robert Mugabe's grip on power showed no signs of weakening despite mounting international pressure for the release of results the opposition said should mean the end of his 28-year rule"

Yes indeed, but I highly doubt that, if the situation ever improves in Zim, all those that fled will simply pack up and go home. The stats are frightening. It is indeed a huge problem in SA at the moment.

Quote:
Media reports have suggested that as many as three million Zimbabweans have crossed into South Africa since the neighbouring economy began its steep decline in 2000.
Quote:
The South African Independent, a Sunday newspaper, has quoted 'official' estimates that 20,000 to 30,000 undocumented Zimbabweans have been crossing into South Africa every month, and the country's leading financial daily, Business Day, has quoted police sources estimating that 6,000 to 10,000 undocumented migrants have been arriving weekly from Zimbabwe.

The weekly newspaper, The Mail & Guardian, has cited police sources at Musina, the South African town nearest the main border post for entering Zimbabwe, estimating that 3,000 undocumented migrants per day were crossing from Zimbabwe to South Africa.

Re: Zimbabwe: I hope this is true....Mugabe defeated

Those are some frightening stats!!
I personally know of at least 10 Zimbabweans that work at my company that said that as soon as they hear that Bob is out they are on the next taxi home... and that will be the general consensus I am sure.

My girfriend came from Zim and I after eight years spent in South Africa found Switzerland very favourable place to live. Nonetheless we watch with tension development of events in this region, especially political elections and longlasting awaiting for RESULTS of the elections.... which ****es us off!!! Everyone knows who won and it should be announced soon! No time to count votes, time to rebuild suffering economy and bring farms back to normal.... We would like ot go back there at some stage and enjoy South African and Zim life

I wonder if the AU will use the same action on Zimbabwe as they did for the Comoros if Mugabe doesn't stand down?

Is it true that Mbeki's wife and Mugabe's wife ( one of them ) , are sisters ? That would explain the unconditional support ....
