I'm happy a majority of Scottish voters voted NO but hope Westminster takes on board the loud voices demanding reform. I think it was a great advert for democracy. What a turnout. Many countries can learn from this. I hope the NO camp is gracious and there is no long term acrimony

About "hope Westminster takes on board the loud voices demanding reform" yes, I am sure they will get as much support as the 49% who voted here against the SVP initiative.

Go back to school Ratbag! It was a Scottish King James VI, that joined the two countries together in 1707! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acts_of_Union_1707
Actually, Queen Anne - the last of the Stuart monarchs - was on the throne in 1707. James VI / I was 1603 - 1625. 2 separate countries, one monarch.

very nasty indeed, but andy murray is a prime example of why sports people shouldn't be allowed to speak in public, he spends years trying to win over the British public, then goes and screws it all up by saying anyone but england in the football, then just when people are beginning to forgive him for it he tweets about rather playing for scotland, mate, hand that feeds you, hand that feeds you.
Come on mate, he makes one jokey comment about wanting Paraguay to beat England and gets hammered for it. I make that comment to friends and colleagues every day. That is utter manufactured outrage and anyone who was offended by it really needs a good bout in intraspection, good grief.

Using that as a reason to send him messages saying people wished him dead at one the UK's worst (if not the worst) massacres of the modern age is mindblowingly idiotic.

He, like anyone else (and everyone else) has opinions and his crime was to utter support for one democratic movement over another. Christ on a bike, should we wish that Gordon Brown had been killed in his rugby accident, instead of partially blinded because he voted NO? Get a grip.

It was banter that was taken out of context.

Completely off-topic, I don't bother reading papers these days as they are full of shoddy work looking to grab attention rather than report news. This is a classic example. Now when I see "shock" quotes in the headlines, I know that the person was asked a dumb leading question and the answer will have been taken completely out of context.

I didn't say I agreed with it??? the fact is it was widely reported, and he suffered for it, then he went and put his foot in it with his tweets.

Gordon Brown on the otherhand deserves a damn good kicking for his time as chancellor (at the very least)

Currently, saying I am Scottish is equivalent to saying I am a Geordie, we are both just regions of the UK.
Not really. Scotland is a country that is a part of the UK with its own devolved parliament. Scotland even has its own laws (how useful is a English law degree in Scotland and vica versa?) and notes.

The vote yesterday was to become its own nation and the case just wasn't made well enough.

More like Scotland lost a quarter of liquid capital trying to rival the east India company and failing

The outcome shows to be bringing things back to square one. It probably must have hurt taxpayer's pockets in the first place to had started with such referendum campaign shenanigans.

We should be grateful, plenty of countries' failed independence campaigns have cost a lot more than just money.

No but I found the CNN result to be rather a good reflextion of the lack of talent there.

Yes 58%

No 52%
