Will flight prices be going down soon?

I've been told not to book my summer flights until next month when prices are expected to decrease due to lower oil prices.

Do you think there is any truth to this? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Re: Will flight prices be going down soon?

It depends on the airline and what they've signed as far as fuel agreements, as well as where you'd like to fly.

Many of the big airlines sign hedge agreements that last for years, trying to lock in a low price on fuel. I imagine most have been caught off-guard by the dropping price, as they are locked into higher prices for the foreseeable future.

If you have the ability to wait a few more weeks, I'd seriously consider it. Prices are too high right now imo.

Oops forgot a link to a recent article on hedging: http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/...0K10AJ20141223
