Crane collapse in Saudi Grand Mosque kills at least one hundred

Hand of God?
Some reports say that lightning struck the crane! Link here.

Is this an omen?

Sad business for the workers and their families.

Hope the authorities get the Mosque repaired before the hajj. Or maybe the Wahhabi's will use it as an excuse to do what they have long wanted to do and bulldoze the Mosque. Centuries of Islamic architecture near the Grand Mosque have been bulldozed.

BTW, according to newspaper reports the crane belonged to the Bin Laden family.

Allah has called another 220 Muslims up to heaven. Plus another 400 injured in a crush.

A cleric said it was good news, as those killed in the act of the pilgrimage get an express train to heaven. I hope they haven't started doing these things on purpose.
Only you could twist a few words of comfort to grieving families into something as sick as suggesting that they might be killing pilgrims on purpose.

Yes, it would be sick, and I hope those were words of comfort to grieving families. Just so many shocking things Reported from that region.

Phos, for a Christian you don't always display the best qualities of one e.g. compassion. This was a human tragedy relating primarily to poor crowd control, would you make similar light of Hindu Pilgrims killed in the kumbh mela?

Where do you stand on suicide bombers DB? Are you for the victims or for the bombers, or for both? I am wondering which higher moral route I should take.

Because you are accusing Phos of something that is not very pleasant. Who appointed you to be the moral judge DB? I am asking for your advice, as you seem to be the judge in this thread.

So what has any of this to do with suicide bombers?

What are you on about Sbrinz? You're not making any sense at all today.

Doesn't bloody matter who appointed who what.

This isn't the first time Phos has been accused of something 'not very pleasant'.

Besides, hardly an accusation when the evidence is right there. DB is right - why would Phos immediately jump to a theory like that? No one else did.

Unless...you know...Phos just really doesn't like muslims...

Muslims and Hindus, no one does a stampede quite like them. Why can't they just sit around eating chocolate eggs?

Okay. There are lots of ironies in life. I didn't create them. But you are right. It was bad taste and timing to post that. Homestly, I'm jist sometimes flabbergasted by some of the news that come out of that country.

I will retract, and sincere apologies for the offense.

Ha ha.. I find this funny. Stampedes happen mostly due to the numbers and lack of crowd controls. It is not at all related to religion. So that's that

Something about the differences in perceived spiritual ardour and devotion to religious practice between Muslims, Hindus and European Christians (with reference to the recent thread on the subject of Abraham and Isaac).

But I could be wrong.
