How did this child get there, anyway.
Was it's father doing "a Michael Jackson"?
Mum was out of the city, dad's in trouble with the law because he left the boy at home alone to go to the supermarket (or something). This was according to the Beeb.

Can you imagine being a fly on the wall in their place when mum gets back from wherever she's been..?

A baby that size/age can climb up and over the fence of the balcony?
Whom are they trying to fool here?

Apparently he's a 4 y.o. Never underestimate what kids can get up to. They are sneaky little buggers when they want to be...

Wonder no more.

Of course, they did point out that he was living illegally in France. But that kind of ruins their argument against illegal immigration.
How so?

This really isn't hard. Follow along:

- A child is in danger;
- None of the good burghers of Paris do anything to help, until...
- The child gets rescued by a brown man, but...
- Turns out the brown man was in France illegally!
- Phew, lucky he was there, eh?

No, no, kriss-kross's side will argue:
The child of an illegal immigrant is in danger
The child gets rescued by an other illegal immigrant
Turns out: If there were no illegal immigrants, this would never have happened. Innocent children are put in danger by illegal immigrants dragging them to Europe.

Re: All about Muslims (in the wake of terrorist attacks in Europe)

My concern with mass immigration is not that I think they're bad people; my concern is that a lot of them will not integrate and ultimately assimilate.

The fact that they tend to bring a lot of social and economic problems with them is simply the low-hanging fruit.

"Assimilate"? Jeezus, sounds a bit Stepford Wives meets the Borg now...

Using this incident as an argument for illegal immigration is the same as using any terrorist incident as an argument to kick out all Muslims.

I don't get it. Where in the French or EU legal codes does it state that doing a good deed or being a good person entitles an illegal alien to citizenship?

True but a useful argument against using terrorist incidents as an argument to kick out all Muslims.

Sounds sensible, except that I wasn't using the argument to support illegal immigration. I don't think anybody supports illegal immigration. There's a debate about how to treat illegal immigrant, and what types of immigration should be illegal, but nobody except criminals actually condones law-breaking.

So no, your argument transfer concept doesn't work.

My son could drive my car at 4. (OK, so he needed a lap to sit on, but I'm sure he would have improvised with a cushion.)

Back to the Malian Spiderman - Macron says that in addition to French citizenship, he will be given a job as a firemen, which corresponds to his skills...

Wait a minute - his skills? He's certainly brave, but is scaling building exteriors really what firemen do? Eligibility for a paid job as a fireman in France requires minimum of 3 years volunteer firefighting service:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_services_in_France

I guess it's great feel-good PR for Macron...
