Tom | | | | | An extraordinary courage, humanity and...physical abilities. He's in France since 2013, according to the article, so maybe giving him the French citizenship is not such a rushed thing. Sometimes good things happen to good people...? (running for cover now)

"After doing the shopping, the boy's father had delayed going home to play Pokemon Go, prosecutors said."
Back to the Malian Spiderman - Macron says that in addition to French citizenship, he will be given a job as a firemen, which corresponds to his skills...
Wait a minute - his skills? He's certainly brave, but is scaling building exteriors really what firemen do? Eligibility for a paid job as a fireman in France requires minimum of 3 years volunteer firefighting service: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fire_services_in_France
I guess it's great feel-good PR for Macron... | | | | | I support rewarding heroes, it encourages others to be heroic.

He left home in 2013, spent a year in Libya, and arrived in Italy in 2014.
It doesn't say when he arrived in France.

Interesting to learn that the president can single-handedly confer French citizenship.
I wonder if there are other situations where the president could put that right to good use. Could he stop or maybe delay the execution of death row inmates in the US by making them French for example? Could he have made Donald Trump ineliegible to run for POTUS by making him French?

Just for the laugh, let's put him on blue watch of the Paris pompiers, too. Muhahahaha!" | This user would like to thank for this useful post:

3 Killed in Liege in Belgium by a guy who according to witnesses shouted Allahu Akbar, the guy was released yesterday for a temporarily leave from prison, according to news he radicalised in the prison but was not on the radar of the intelligence services.
Possible link to another murder in On which happened last night, according to the news he robbed a jeweller and after this killed his "mate"
Still fresh and news is ongoing.

It's like a new superhero... Captain Citizenship.

edit: just saw this article, describing Macron's ability to make people French: Mamoudou Gassama: Balcony rescue highlights French immigration row

Figures. | | | | | Off topic but I really wonder:
Why do you - and you do that a lot - take the names out of the quotes? Is that on purpose or a mistake?
It's really not helping. If it's a mistake, could you change it? If it's on purpose, could you think about changing your mind maybe? | This user would like to thank curley for this useful post:

In my opinion, Macron wants to promote the image of a France of generosity and solidarity.. I personally don't see anything wrong with that.
The article is written by a British journalist and I sensed some bias against the French there...
