I don't see a flag either, but why should someone be sacked?

What's wrong with dogs?

There's no anti-dog sentiment in any sacred Islamic text.

Communication 101:
Communication isn't just about how something's meant but just as much about how it's perceived. That flyer should have been proofread, to call it that, by a few local muslims before it was considered good-for-print.

Sure, I get it. Aiming to piss off a whole population isn't very couth. I still don't see what the big deal is about dogs. And for all we know, it was proofread by a few local Muslims. Maybe it was even made by one. It certainly doesn't look like a graphic that an American would make IMO (lions and dogs?), but who knows..

No need to worry. Reasonable people won't do anything drastic over a postcard asking for their help against violent Islamists. wouldn't they ?

Unbelievable. After posting the above post, I googled 'Islam and mice'.

It turns out that mice are also considered dirty.

It can be traced back to a time when Mohammed supposedly saw a mouse pull the wick out of his oil lamp, in an attempt to burn the house down. So he got out of bed and killed it, and it is now thought that: 'The mice or rats that may live in people’s houses are among the harmful creatures or vermin (fuwaysiqah) which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded us to kill in all situations..'

That should do it then..

Hehe indeed

Quote:

Upset Afghans plan on protesting the “unforgivable” offense the leaflet apparently caused to Muslims.

“Those who have committed this unforgivable mistake in the publicity, propaganda or media section of the coalition forces will be tried and punished,” said Parwan Province Governor Mohammad Hasem.

Ghulam Bahauddin Jilani, a provincial council head, also called for “whoever is responsible” to be “arrested and put on trial.”

The situation has “sparked riots” across the country, CBS News reports. Calls for legal repercussions for seemingly harmless activity is commonplace in much of the Islamic world, where the punishment for offending Islam is sometimes death or a severe beating.
From what I've read the Talibans are largely supported by the population in some areas, it's ridiculous that NATO has invested so much money and resources in this country

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-16851949

Part of the population is happy with the NATO forces, part of it not. It will never end there, not in a hundred more years at least.

The article doesn't mention anything to that end (unless I overlooked something). And if it's as described a question of which group you're part of they may simply have asked the wrong people.

I don't ing care whether the Twitees are real or not. It was a good representation of what is happening right now: lefties trying defend Islam against what is written in the Quran and propagated by a large part of the muslims.

So you don't care whether something that's claimed to be true has been forged just as long as it conforms to your opinion? But some contradicting outlet is (assuming you use Trump's terms) fake news regardless of veracity?

The mind boggles.

Why would @miche11em (who does exist) make up the exchange, given that she spends most of her time on Twitter defending Islam?

I make no statement to that end either way. I'm just appalled by Capo.

I meant that whether it is a true tweet or just an anecdote, it pretty much represents the failed attempt of progressives to defend Islam.

All these s@#ts that have been happening are reflexions of the sacred inscriptions AND the fact that a big sizeable chunk of muslims DO want to follow them in real life.

Well the anecdote fails when it claims that the Imam wrote "Muslims beheaded the sons of Mohammed in Karbala" which is not true; no sons of Mohammed were murdered.

It gets even weirder when you look at the link posted by DB where the lady who claims to have originated this discussion posts "The prophet had no sons" whereas there were three?

So what? Islam has been affecting for the worse the lives of millions of muslims and non-muslims around the world. Therefore anything that brings to light what the media and politicians have been hiding is good.

I'm an atheist but would never be so arrogant to denounce an ENTIRE belief system as being responsible for the ills of many of its followers.

Some elements of the Christian religion were the de facto big bully boy around the world for many generations; raping, killing, pillaging and generally having a riotous party around regions of the world that couldn't defend themselves but it was far from THE WHOLE religion.

There are still some utter w@nkstains spouting hate and murdering groups of people in parts of the world but that is humans doing stuff to humans whilst hiding behind whatever faith helps them to sleep at night.
