I do not blame them for their thoughts, my first thought was actually the same, however given the complete randomness of the location in just a random meaningless spot in a currently meaningless town, I kept it to myself till more was known, they should have done the same. Next time they/we might be correct, this time we were wrong.

Those that understand the distinction between committing suicide and using your body as a bomb would have guessed it wasn't a Jihadi.

Not all blow up themselves, some run away, others try to stab or shoot as many as possible, and there are those who just commit suicide. Also in the beginning there were strong rumours of something in the car that might have been explosive, and German authorities were slow with giving out any info besides amount of deaths and victims.

Knowing the strict taboo against suicide in all the Abrahamic faiths, I don't see how any paradise-seeking Jihadi could simply blow their brains out. Its why homicide bomber is a more apt term because their primary goal is to kill and the sacrifice is their own life.

So they're observing the Muslim faith after all. Interesting, I remember people arguing they're not real Muslims.

Killing innocent people is not following the faith is it? However if it was a recognised war between combatants then diving into an enemy trench clutching a grenade might be viewed as an act of martyrdom.

That is the point, they've been brainwashed into thinking they're at war with those they kill and thus the rules of war apply.

Fox News can do what they want by thinking of different names, I wil not join in, and everybody knows what is ment with a suicide bomber. And to me the term Suicide bomber is more accurate since it includes that the bomber himself will give his/her life while detonating the bomb, whereas a homicide bomber could just throw a bomb over a fence and walk away while he committed homicide with a bomb. And we also speak of Suicide attacks, and not of Homicide attacks

If only their imaginary martyrdom would be of any consolation..! But this discussion has nothing to do with the thread's topic, let's not confuse easily distracted readers.

I guess it was rather inconceivable to think that someone mowing down a crowd with a vehicle may have been an Islamic attack.
