| | Re: Arab gang assaults in Germany | Quote: | | | | | Germany attacks on asylum hostels soar. Someone even lobbed a grenade at one just up the road in Villingen Schwenningen last night. Would be much better if these guys took to the streets to protest rather than attacking the homes. Don't know if it's because they worried about being branded a Nazi or if they're just thick (or indeed Nazis). The bill for repairing and building new hostels just lands back with the tax payer in any case. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35437873 | | | | | I think people don't take to the streets because of the fear of PC. This is the state of pubvlic debate in Germany.
Anyway, from my German friends I am told that bthe "high number of attacks on asylum centres" actually includes all sorts of stuff including much of it that is mild or harmless. The authorities are called upon to record and report all incidents involving the local population including for example, graffiti with possible racist undertones, people leafletting outside etc.
In one camp, some pro immigration folks set up a welcome table outside the centre when the first busload arrived to give them lots of welcome presents. The police asked them to move the stand as it was blocking a pavement. They moved it onto an adjoining (and apparently) empty plot and in doing so flattened a fence. The owner of the land came out and told them to leave his land and pay for repairing the fence. When they refused he shouted at them and got taken in by the police. This was recorded as a violent incident against refugees.
In another case, supposedly some protestors lit a bonfire and set fire to a stack of trashed euro palettes on a plot of land that was earmarked for building a migrant hostel. The news reported this as "arson attack on planned asylum center" and the governor even copndemned it as being "a cowardly act against people in need of protection".
So if you count that way, and put actions like that on the same level as sexual harrasments and rape then it is indeed easy to claim that in terms of incident count, the refugees are actually the well behaved ones.

Countries like Poland and Hungary have an understandable historical dislike of the Russians, which is why they broke away from the Russian sphere of influence and joined Nato, the EU etc. However, in the intervening 20 years a new generation have grown up who don't remember the Russian occupation and maybe think their parents are exaggerating but are now coming to deeply dislike Germany and with it the American imperialism they see behind Germany, the EU, the Nato etc. They are coming to think their natural allies are the Russians. The far right in many eastern European countries are already openly talking about building bridges to Russia while burning those to the West. With stuff like this, Russia is stoking that fire.
The scary thing is that Germany is apparently blind to this and continues to play the caricature of its worst image and is playing straight into this propaganda.

Dang, if the German government would only guide its foreigners how to coexist instead of trying to crack down on its own people, they wouldn't have such problem. That is enough to make a German wonder whose side its government is on.

I don't get the feeling they want Russia as an ally tho (especially after Ukraine). Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, etc are all asking for more US military support, but not getting enough, so they are starting to form their own joint military units to counter potential Russian aggression.
The way I see it, E.Europe is stuck between a rock and a hard place, ie: they don't want to be the next Ukraine, but instead of getting military and financial support from West EU, they are being told (blackmailed?) that they should take refugee quotas" and not to worry about Putin. Not exactly what they want to hear. It might make more sense if the EU split officially into West EU and East EU so everybody could just be honest and follow their own interests, ie: East EU will never take mass refugees, and West EU will never help East EU militarily. | Quote: | | | | | The far right in many eastern European countries are already openly talking about building bridges to Russia while burning those to the West. In Hungary for example, the Jobbik leadership are openly talking about an alliance with Putin. And thanks to Merkel, they may well be on the way to becoming the strongest party. Leftists like to have a go at Orban and call him a Nazi, but they may yet come to regret they didn't stand beside and bolster him while they still had the chance.
I don't understand that the Germans are so blind to what they are kicking off in the rest of Europe.

It makes sense for Eastern Europe to form their own club, around Poland. I don't see them relating very well with the current zeitgeist around Germany and Western Europe.

For years, decades, mass media is allowed to denigrate entire nations, while being heavily censored when it comes to other groups. Whatever they cannot say out loud are taking it on Eastern Europe. I am sure people are so well trained they wouldn't admit it to anyone, not even to themselves.
We find out now that Poland has a problem with democracy, that Hungary is a dictatorship etc etc etc. And the same old stories, repeated over and over in the Western media while debates about more stringent problems are tabu.
Well done. Russia has nothing to do actually, you are doing her job. | The following 4 users would like to thank greenmount for this useful post: | |

Excuse me for getting back on topic, but does anyone have any feedback on the mood and situation in Berlin? Is it awful? Is it dangerous? I planned a trip there for in February, with some ladies, to go clubbing. But I wonder if I would have to fend for them. Will I need to be extra cautious? Will we need pepper spray? I'd rather go somewhere else than have an awful time.

Some say Germany encouraged Croatia's separation from Yugoslavia to counter such a scenario - which was called Central Europe Initiative: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cent...ean_Initiative |

Basic problem is that none of them have any money: Major attraction of the EU is the generous grants.
For example, Poland will get e82.5 Billion from the EU in "structural funds"
Any other organisational idea is naïve!

In Poland there is ZERO chance to consider Russia as a (potential) ally.
However Germany is also seen as a de facto potential ally of Russia due to strong economic ties (don't forget the north stream gas pipeline which best example of this realpolitik).
Thus the next best option is to be an American or British pawn wedged in between the two natural allies.
