It should say it was allowed to happen because of failures at more than one level.
The underlying cause, is, of course, because they chose to commit those crimes. | | | | |
Again, this line of thinking..... is it up to the government or the police to make decisions for the individuals that make up this group? What are they, farm animals? And why the diversion to some other cause other than what it is?

Chemical castration at the handouts office.. Take this tablet or no money.
Moahahahawaaa genius. I've solved the problem in one go. | | | | | Why stop at chemical? Physical castration so they can never do it again followed by deportation. Most of these attacks were not random results from celebrating and drinking, but planned robberies/seuxal assaults.
"In Finland, police said they received reports of "widespread sexual harassment" in Helsinki on New Year's Eve.
A police official said they were tipped off that groups of asylum seekers had planned to sexually harass women and that three asylum seekers had been arrested.
"This is a completely new phenomenon in Helsinki," deputy police chief Ilkka Koskimaki told AFP news agency." http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35261359
And a fair mix of refugees and others.
"The suspects include nine Algerians, eight Moroccans, four Syrians, five Iranians, two Germans and one each from Iraq, Serbia and the US, he said."
German police chief is going to resign over the attacks I've just seen flash up on the Beeb website. I assume it's the Cologne chief of police.

PS, those results were the first from a reputable source that came up on google. The point was to show that far worse crimes happen in similar sized cities (Manchester, York, Liverpool, Preston).
40 sexual assaults and 2 rapes, as well as thefts, are certainly not 1000s of rapes by a single group.
Like I said, I can come back to you with more detailed information, but this will obviously take more time. | | | | | Of course crime happens in large cities. Nobody disputes that. But what happened in Köln was unprecedented in recent EU history. And not only in Köln, but other EU cities as well... I don't hear many people saying "well, it's business as usual, so just deal with it" | Quote: | | | | Helsinki (AFP) - Finnish police reported Thursday an unusually high level of sexual harassment in Helsinki on New Year's Eve and said they had been tipped off about plans by groups of asylum seekers to sexually harass women.
Helsinki deputy police chief Ilkka Koskimaki told AFP: "There hasn't been this kind of harassment on previous New Year's Eves or other occasions for that matter... This is a completely new phenomenon in Helsinki."
Security guards hired to patrol the city on New Year's Eve told police there had been "widespread sexual harassment" at a central square where around 20,000 people had gathered for celebrations. Three sexual assaults allegedly took place at Helsinki's central railway station on New Year's Eve, where around 1,000 mostly Iraqi asylum seekers had converged.
"Police have... received information about three cases of sexual assault, of which two have been filed as complaints," Helsinki police said in a statement.
"The suspects were asylum seekers. The three were caught and taken into custody on the spot," Koskimaki told AFP. | | | | | http://news.yahoo.com/unprecedented-...194548532.html | Quote: | | | | MAINZ, Germany — Roving packs of men sexually assaulted dozens of women on New Year's Eve in western Germany's city of Cologne, officials said, describing the attacks as unprecedented.
The spree suggested a "new dimension of organized criminality," German justice minister Heiko Maas told a press conference on Tuesday.
Police said the attackers — who struck in pairs and groups of up to 20 men — appeared to be part of a larger, 1,000-strong group that had gathered in one of the city's main plazas for New Year's celebrations. | | | | | http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/co...year-s-n490371 | Quote: | | | | Around six women have reported that they were sexually molested and robbed whilst celebrating the New Year in Zurich. The alleged crimes appear to mirror those carried out in Cologne and other German cities that have sparked a political refugee policy debate.
Six women reported being surrounded by "several dark-skinned men", who had robbed, groped and molested them, police said, whilst making reference to the similarity with the German attacks that also took place on New Year’s Eve. | | | | | http://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/new-year...tacks/41880556 |

Interestingly, the German government just confirmed that 18 of 32 people arrested were refugees.
None of the refugees were arrested for sexual assault or rape. Primarily Theft.
So, remind me of the evidence you have that said 1000s of refugees are raping women in Cologne?

3 sexual harassment arrests in Helsinki on NYE, from over 1000 (alleged) asylum seekers
No numbers from Mainz.
6 in Zurich.
All big cities. All places where it is not unusial for this level of crime to occur.
I say again - its only unprecedented because so many refugees were involved. If it was natives of Cologne, it probably wouldn't breach national news.

Only a few incidents reached rape. No evidence for the others. Eyewitnesses and police reported the numbers. So they didn't get around to raping everybody, but they were in effect terrorizing them.

There should be a version of Godwins Law, except one that relates to Terrorism rather than nazism.
To be fair, it was only a matter of time before refugees and terrorism was linked, no matter how tenuously.
Edit: There now is. From this day forth, it shall be referred to as J2488's Law. I'm working on a better name.

That's not the normal way for Germany to resolve a disagreement like this one...

It kind of is - he lost his job because of media pressure, and the better course would have been to review his position after this whole situation had been settled.

They needed a fall guy for Reker and Merkel to get off the hook. But this shows how serious this is. I would have rather seen Merkel resign though.

Scotland Yard reported that 100 people were arrested in Central London on New Years Eve 2014 for drunken, violent or sexual crimes, still looking for 2015 numbers.
I assume German politicians do not get out much.

He didn't exactly lose his job.
He was put onto "temporary retirement".
Which means that he gets his full salary, but doesn't have to turn up for work.
This status can continue until he actually hits the retirement age.
Still cheaper than putting any of those thieves into a prison for x-hundred a day per person. That is the saddest thing about all these.
Petty-thieves cause less costs outside the prison than inside.

Out of the office without sitting for months to argue rationally and legally who is right? brutal.
