1000s in organised assaults in Germany.

Nobody will be arrested, it might cause local people to be against the idea of blindly allowing 'refugees' without any security checks or care for the existing population.

Police will announce in a few days/weeks that the girls were drunk and imagined the whole thing.

Erm...8 have been detained.

I think you need a follow up question:

"Will people assume all 1000 were refugees, despite there not being any evidence that the any of the suspects were in fact, refugees?"

You only need one response.

Interestingly, all 8 were known to police - suggesting they were not newly arrived refugees but people who had been here for a while - ie, unrelated to the current refugee crisis.

But, as sad as it is, the refugees will be the ones who pay for this.

Police have 8 suspects, all of whom are refugees with residence cards.

Re: Arab gang assaults in Germany

It is a great example of how different media outlets report on the same story.

Simply put:
- Violence by drunk people on large gatherings is nothing new. What is new is the quality and scale of this event. It simply sounds like it was planned. So let's see what the cops will find out. Currently are more and more witnesses coming forward and filing reports... let's see what the evidence can do before people jump to conclusions. Last December did the government introduce a massive phone record storage program to "fight terrorism". Now we can see how long it takes to find out whose mobile phone was on the square at the time of the assaults...
- within one post did the word "refugee" come up here. Most refugees are from Syria and Afghanistan, most newspaper mention witnesses talking about North Africans, many apparently speaking French. That leads to Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya. I know that for many newspapers an Arab is an Arab, but I hope the cops do a better job...
- Cologne is a large city (around twice the size of Zurich) with a for German standards rather high crime rate and well established organized crime scene. The biggest groups there are Turkish and indeed Arabian and have been so for decades. Blaming anything on refugees arriving last year without any concrete arrests is ridiculous. It's not like they are the only middle Eastern men around... and definitely not the most dangerous in Cologne.
- The whole thing happened in front of the main station. If you have never been to Cologne: That's the one place I'd expect new year parties to go out of hand in terms of alcohol and fireworks. I'd expect the police to be present with quite a force and they apparently have been. What I am most curious about is how the cops can have missed 90 cases of sexual assaults right in front of their noses. In one case apparently even including a plain clothes female police officer ON DUTY. Do they not have radios?!

No offense, but this is one newspaper who reported this based on an interview with ONE cop who was there. Said newspaper is the equivalent of the Daily Mail, so I believe it when it comes in the actual news.

Europe is such a shithole. :msnsick:

1000s of these a**holes go out and attack women and the police only arrest 8?!

Well, that's just part of the truth:
- 140(!) cops were on the square where the attacks have happened.
- the morning after did the cologne police release a press statement "big party, mostly peaceful"! http://www.presseportal.de/blaulicht/pm/12415/3214905

I think most Germans are not just shocked about what happened (although the details aren't really that clear yet), but just how incompetent the police was. I personally am not the type of person who is asking for a police state and surveillance cameras in every corner as for example in London... but I'd like the cops to be... well, just competent I guess.

In America its the cops seem to shoot black people with impunity and get away with it most of the time  Not sure whats better ineffective police in Europe or police that shoot first and ask questions later?

The unsettling part is, that such incidents could happen anywhere in Western Europe and the police will most likely be just as incompetent.

If you take anything for face value, then you're right.

For all I care, the police could have drained their magazines and killed each and everyone of the 1000 idiots. The culprits can misbehave all they want in their backwards, rat-infested countries but they have no right to be here, if they choose to engage in such antisocial behavior.

Just be grateful you live in "culturally enriched" multi-kulti Europe.......this is definitely a late Christmas present for PEDIGA.

Or indeed that they were Arabs.

The best solution would be if the women would all wear burqas. Then the men wouldn´t be attracted by it and everything would be peaceful.

Also, not allowing alcohol might help.

Of course they're THE REAL victims here.

The point has been missed here. It doesn't matter if refugees or migrants were involved or not. This is just another in a long line of examples of how Conservative African/Arab/Muslim culture is completely incompatible with liberal Europe.

Importing 1.5 million people a year from these places into a few European countries will just lead to more problems.

Indeed, being both drunk and Muslim are somehow incompatible?

And the reaction from the Mayor of Cologne? Women should have a "code of conduct" to prevent further assault. See the hashtag #einearmlaenge to see how well this has gone down. Are German politicians deliberately this out of touch?
