A guy wielding a weapon and shouting "Allu Akbar!" on the anniversary of the Charlie Hebdo shootings is not simply "a suicide", there's a terrorist element in there, don't gloss it over.

Either that or he was just a nutter. I'm more inclined to go with the latter. What sort of lunatic would attack a police station on the anniversary of Charlie Hebdo, armed only with a knife. He literally brought a knife to a gunfight.

I thought the same, a suicide belt has never born its name better, at least with this one he didn't take innocent bystanders with him.

Really wondering what goes on in people's head sometimes.

Re: Another terror incident in Paris

PS- Wasn't the first time a guy with a knife ran into a police station with a knife yelling "Allu Akbar!".

From December 2014:

Quote:
French police on Saturday shot dead a man shouting "Allahu Akbar" ("God is the greatest") who stabbed and wounded three officers in a police station, authorities said.
Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, who rushed to the scene, said the man was killed after he attacked the policemen with a knife in a station in Joue-les-Tours, a suburb of the city of Tours in central France.
Cazeneuve confirmed the attacker had shouted "Allahu Akbar" during the attack, which he said was "extremely violent".

Perhaps not the first gun yielding guy to walk into police station saying AA, but it was the Charlie Hebdo attack anniversary.. By the way, this was Mr Trump's reaction

I think if you're determined to die, then wearing a fake suicide vest and shouting "Allu Akbar" is almost guaranteed to get you quickly killed, and is much less likely to get you a load of social workers trying to change your mind.

More or less supporting the nutter hypothesis. Hopefully less traumatic for the cops that shot him than it would have been for the train driver if he had jumped in front of a train (and the staff who would have to scrape him off the tracks).

My apologies to Trump, but in my view this episode highlights the need for better quality psychiatric care more than the need for the general population to carry guns.

Not sure about that. Cops'll probably get suspended pending an investigation, if it's owt like UK

I would be very very very surprised if the police officer is suspended. The country is under threat, im sure this is something they have been briefed about.

Hopefuly this is not US yet and the need for use of deadly force in self defense will be assessed impartially. Otherwise "walking while Arab" might become a dangerous activity.

Possibly the fact that the guy was wearing a suicide belt (even if not a real one) will make it easier on the cops. It's not like you're going to pause and try to assess whether the bomb is real or not and whether the guy is a terrorist or "just nuts" when you see someone wearing such a belt running towards you.

I wonder if you still get the virgins if the suicide belt was fake?
