Sounds like a great result for AfD to me. Pundits were predicting that with the recent stepping down of Frauke Petri, that the party was finished.

This means that barring something totally unexpected, AfD will be in the next Bundestag.

Also interesting to see that AfD took 15% in Gelsenkirchen. What was that abouit AfD having no toehold in the cities with high immigration again?
How about quoting proper cities like Bonn or Dusseldorf or Köln where AfD scored ca. 6%?

which is still better than the average in Schleswig Holstein, which according to you should be an AfD stronghold because rural.

Re: Do you believe in Merkel?

These artricles actually say more about why Der Spiegel has gone from being a pillar of journalism to a joke rag than they actually say anything new about Trump.

Here is this Trump guy. So stupid. So predictable. So easy to manipluate. Believes any crap.

And there is this Merkel woman. So smart. Such a leader. So able to convince people. The Steve Jobs of politics.

But she doesn't get what she wants.

Hmmm.

Ignore what they say about him. I focus more on what Merkel says and does with regards to the EU, Euro Zone, a European Army, etc.

Re: Do you believe in Merkel?

But did she grant the people a right to vote on anything substantive (Greek bailouts , dropping of Dublin 2 , migrant crisis etc etc) in Germany is a far far worse trait ?

Re: Do you believe in Merkel?

Merkel goes to Russia, lectures Putin on gay rights and then votes against gay marriage.

Re: Do you believe in Merkel?

She probably* managed to avoid a big debate on this issue during the election period, she let the country move forward and come to 2017, and she kept her own vote according to her conscience.

She can lecture Putin on gay rights because in Russia if a teacher tells his class that being gay is OK, parents will use and he will end up in jail.
Get the difference?

*we will see if this will happen indeed or if the constitutional court will rule the vote invalid

Re: Do you believe in Merkel?

Well there are elections coming up and Merkel needs to take on the AfD, who are actually saying immigrants are a threat to gays.

Maybe she will yet make an Obama-esque U-Turn on gay marriage, upon careful examination of opinion polls her conscience.

Funny how she doesn't bring up the matter when visiting countries in the Middle East. Where if you're gay you can end up six feet under the ground.

Your point is that she cannot lecture Putin because she voted against marriage for all, or that she cannot lecture Putin because she does not also lecture the Saudis?
Can you please make up your mind?

That she if she is pro gay rights, then she should have some consistency with how she conveys that. Do try to keep up.

Isn't she right to lecture them about the persecution of gays, i.e. the violence with impunity towards anyone even suspected of being gay? Can't really see what that's got to do with gay marriage.

Keep up with someone who starts by "Merkel is promoting gay rights too much" only to change it later to "Merkel is not promoting gay rights enough"?
I have better things to do.

Well, given that the right to allow same sex marriages despite her opposition speaks words:

If you lecture Putin you should be expected to lecture other world leaders who practice the same persecution of homosexuals.

If you are pro gay rights, then you should be pro gay marriage.
