Isn't the Queen part American through her mother's line?

Re: The Brexit referendum thread: potential consequences for GB, EU and the Brits in

B. Johnson's dad and brother were at the launch with him yesterday. So their pics/images would've been on most of the channels.

I'd say the remain brother has appeased the middle ground in the party and that is why he was there. If so, Boris is on the home stretch..

Tobias Ellwood but he has more sense than to run. Even so, with things kicking off in Hong Kong, I want Ellwood as Defence Minister.

Yes, he would be good. He has integrity and common sense. He cares and can bring people together.

But he doesn't stand a chance.

TBH I'm not rooting for anybody right now. I don't believe there is a silver bullet or magic formula that will save the situation, either way. What we need is a middle ground candidate who can reconcile the different positions rather than divide them further. I don't see anybody who is an obvious position to both win the contest and do that, but I'm hoping that such is human nature that they may well rise to the chalelnge neverthless.

No, he isn't. Bozo hasn't been an American citizen since 2016.

It has surprised me that the likes of BoJo and Gove are chucking their hats in the ring at this stage. I'd have thought they'd have gone for PM once Brexit is sorted, and they'd let someone else have their political career sliced and diced in the meantime.
Clearly like Thatcher they believe they are unto the job. BBC documentary on Lady T was very interesting.

I'd have thought someone like BoJo would rather come with title deeds. Something penned on vellum.

Once an American, ALWAYS an American!

(or so I've been told)

Tom
I find it deeply divise and hateful to refer to him as an American just because of the passport he holds or the country he was born in.

Wouldn't it be a better measure if everybody was free to self-identify as an American, North Korean or any other nationaility, or indeed none at all.

Not to self: don't mention the idea next time I'm passing through US immigration.

Let us ponder the wise words of Gilbert and Sullivan

he is an englishman!

he is an englishman!
for he himself has said it,
and it's greatly to his credit,
that he is an englishman!

that he is an englishman!

for he might have been a roosian,
a french, or turk, or proosian,
or perhaps itali-an!

or perhaps itali-an!

but in spite of all temptations
to belong to other nations,
he remains an englishman!
he remains an englishman!

for in spite of all temptations
to belong to other nations,
he remains an englishman!
he remains an englishman!
