Lets not forget this is a man who has spent his entire career on the back benches, never holding any significant leadership position and completely oblivious to the party whip. Now he has been thrust into power, having to deal with staffing, budgets, intense media interest, prima donna MPs etc.. and that takes time to get your head around, especially when you face almost daily smear campaigns and the Ghosts of Nu-Labour past constantly sticking the knife in.
The Far Left have waited 30 years for this moment, so let them try, and if it fails they can go back to the wilderness for another 30 years. I just think that after 4 more years of Tory ravage, the country might well be ready for a Corbyn government. | | | | | If you want to know how the country would be run under Corbyn, look no further than Venezuela. See how that's working out.

If push comes to shove, and Article 50 is invoked, and it comes down to a dichotomy of UK and its citizens' interests vs. EU transnationalism. Which side is Labour likely to weigh in on?

What I've seen from the far left in my lifetime, and even moreso over the past week, convinces me that an awful lot of their members should vote UKIP. They'd be more at home there. | | | | | Because New Labour.

Have I understood parliamentary politics, or have you?

Is it really ready for a Gove one? Or a May one?
Is it ready for anything at the moment?

I suppose that is the gist of the crisis, that Labour doesn't really know where it stands. But how can anyone support a party whose stance it doesn't know at this point in time? Or perhaps it does not matter to some, as long as whoever gets ahead claims to be called "Labour", and not called "Conservative".

Is it ready for anything at the moment? | | | | | How can you, with a straight face, compare Theresa May to Corbyn or Farage? She has done a great job as home secretary for a long time and is a strong woman with an iron will with a track record for getting things done.
She is by far the best choice for the next PM.

The Liberal Democrats have seen a massive surge in applications since the Referendum. Such a shame Clegg wasted his talents on the coalition.
I didn't compare the above btw, and agree that neither Corbyn, nor Farage and certainly not Gove- would be able to lead us out of this mess. But don't think May is netiher. Bring Ruth over from Scotland I say - she's got more stamina, intelligence and balls than all of them put together.

The Tories aren't delivering and New Labour kinda tried, so what's your suggestion for the British people? Tax cuts? More austerity? It may sound daft to you. It's easy to bang on about how stupid everyone else is when not offering any perspectives yourself. Careful with that axe, Eugene.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Have a great weekend everyone. | | | | | Especially from the safety of the Swiss mountains, the sun shining and that view of the lake, with the Swiss salary having just arrived in the Swiss Bank account, of course. Especially for those who have, more or less, cut ties with the UK, never intend to go back- and still voted 'leave' with glee. Easy Peasy...it's not their children or grand-children, so what?

| | Re: The Brexit referendum thread: potential consequences for GB, EU and the Brits in | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | the questions is not whether she is right or wrong but whether she is less wrong that the others. Even if she lied just a bit less than the other candidates, she qualifies.
I like the fact that in her public speech yesterday (German telly), she was clearly not in denial of what Brexit means. Good for her, this is what people voted for. It's not the time to explain consequences anymore, it's time to make a dream become true. I don't agree with that dream but it is the dream that's been voted for. So be it. Any time delay tactic is disrespectful to the voters. The consequences will be what they will be, good or bad and anything in-between.

Why should people have the choice- when they will not have to bear any of the consequences- and just sit them laughing with glee from afar was my point.
