How is this not a personal attack? Where is the commotion? Where are the mods? Why are some people allowed, while others are punished even when hitting back?

Like who?

And as for DB, don't worry too much about him. I'm confident that armed with a keyboard and a pint, he can acquit himself well against these malicious attacks.

A monarchy can never be a republic. Never.

In a republic those who govern hold power for a limited time only and are elected by some mechanism or other. The UK Royal's birthright is the complete opposite to that.
I said crowned republic.
Actually the concept of a republic, meaning literally 'thing of the people' does not exclude the idea of a hereditary monarch. It simply means that power fundamentally lies somewhere with the people. Given that executive and legislative power in the UK is held by the commons, elected by the people, the UK can be said to be a republic.
Of course, in common parlance we often contrast a republic and a monarchy as being polar opposites; this, however, is not really true.

Re: The Brexit referendum thread: potential consequences for GB, EU and the Brits in

Andrew Neil Interview
Quote:
The prime minister says that after leaving the EU the UK will be able to make its own immigration rules. Neil presses her on whether numbers will change. May does not promise this, saying: “There are so many things in the world which affect the number of people coming to the UK.”

Theresa May says she cannot guarantee immigration will be significantly lower after Brexit.
Source

So far the sort of negotiation skills displayed by our Government means we are deep in the brown doo doo!
Since the referendum the EU leaders have said Brexit negotiation first then trade deal.
Then May writes a letter saying Brexit negotiation in parallel with a trade deal negotiation. Of course the EU leaders see this as British arrogance and react accordingly!

I think he would strongly object to the idea that he's some sort of victim here... So why do you insist he is ?

I do not believe he as an individual is a victim, but we.

I insist in pointing personal attacks out, because people like you, sandgrinder, odile, and a couple more LOVE to make personal attacks..

Back on topic, the media is also attacking brexitiers daily, and trust me it is not because the MSM knows better, it is just because people are going against what some elites want.

So MSM is attacking Brexit, is it? Lets have a look....:

Pro Brexit:
Mail
Telegraph
Express
Sun
Star

50:50
Times (Sunday pro, Daily contra)

Against Brexit
Guardian
Mirror
Financial Times

By circulation that is 82% in favour of Brexit. TV is (fortunately) legally obliged to be neutral.

Have a look here for example for more detail.

Speak for yourself.

I want no part of this victim-as-hero narrative of which you people are so fond.

I think you need to include the Independent and HuffPost in that analysis.

Nevertheless, Annakin's thesis holds no water. Makes no odds to me anyway, because I rarely read the British press any more.

Left the Indi out as it no longer exists in print. Huff is US and not UK and if included I would then have to start looking at the likes of Breitbart.

I also left the local press out - the London Evening Standard for example is rabidly Brexit.

Why does it matter if it's still in print or not. I, like many many other people, haven't read a printed newspaper in years. The only exception being the odd discarded copy of "Blick am Abend" lying around in a train

OK. Left the Indi out as it's now so small as to be irrelevant, I don't know their stance offhand and a quick google didn't easily reveal it (I would guess they were 50:50). OK?

Still wouldn't count that as UK MSM. And again, start including that and you also have to start looking at the likes of Breitbart.

I voted LEAVE after several days' intensive reading of the EU's own treaties and documents. I was unhappy with the openly stated intentions and long term aims of the EU. I paid no mind to the sides of buses or waffly press releases.

Please tell me: am I in the ignorant camp or the racist camp?

TIA
Sorry for the late reply, I don't know why you voted leave, or if you are ignorant or racist? Or even what brings you to live outside of the UK. I was replying to Estefanos or whoevers comment. Personally I don't think you made a sensible decision, but you obviously feel you did, so good on you.

Apparently he doesn't do the pint these days. But seems a keyboard is enough on its own.
