Perhaps it might be prudent to remember that the UK has not left the EU yet, before anyone gets excited about unemployment rate...

Yeah, all of these short-term wins and fluctuations like with unemployment are not really significant as it's only the long-term consequences in the time after Brexit happens and the true effects become known which really matter. We just still in the run up period.

It's almost like the negotiating team announce a new strategy every day in order to confuse the man on the street into acquiescence. Shirley not.

Except they have not addressed the issues that must be addressed in the exit talks!

Of the recent two, one request a transaction agreement and the other deals with how to implement a trade agreement on the Irish border and one contradicts the other.

What we are getting papers on what the cabinet can agree to and not on what they need to address - the fact that you cannot have it both ways.

At the rate things are going I see them exiting with no agreement, only to discover that their path to full membership of the WTO is blocked by the EU, they've failed to address the open skyes agreement, visa free travel etc... a lot faffing around and suddenly it's time for a GE. Heaven knows how the average joe or mary, having been deprived of their cheap holiday in the sun will vote.

It would be nice to see some analysis as to the driving factors... but the article say: no significant wage growth and productivity down to 2008 levels => more people needed to produce the same output

Needing more people to achieve the same output, think I'll pass on that strategy.

It will not change the U.K. lack of strategy nor the need for the consensus of the 27.

Should remind ourselves of how a Remainer's deniability works:

Something bad happens = "Due to Brexit"
Nothing happens = "Uncertainty, caused by Brexit"
Something good happens = "Brexit hasn't happened yet"

What is the UK's position on the exit payment? Does it owe one or not? And if yes, what's the ballpark sum?

So you are admitting that you are unable to see that certain events are Brexit related, and some aren't, whereas smarter, more analytical Remainers are able to ascertain this.

Well, my days, I didn't expect such a climb down, but congratulations for this honesty.

And remind us of Leavers benefits

More money for NHS = no
Leave EU without ever paying anything = no
Free trade deals = sometime never
Lose EU regulations = great repeal bill will convert all EU law into United Kingdom law to prevent a black legal hole after Brexit. Thousands of European laws, dictats and directives will be turned into UK law before Brexit is completed in mid-2019.

You left out one nasty one that U.K. jurists have been asking, if you incorporate EU laws, where does the precedents come from the ECJ....

The whole thing is becoming a farce.

In the meantime, the Irish government with EU support have started on projects to upgrade cargo facilities at the southern ports (Rosslare, Cork and Waterford) to handle the additional import/export traffic directly to France. And another project to hook up the Irish electric grid directly to the French grid....

Indeed. I don't know whether to laugh or cry; the latter is increasingly more appropriate.

Congratulations to Eire for getting their act together over Brexit, and facing reality with realistic, practical projects.

As a non-Brexit aside, suspicions have been voiced that the roll out of so-called "Smart electricity meters" to UK homes is a means to ration electricity in the future. Ireland would do well to avoid the risk of being dependant on a country which is expecting to have insufficient power generation resources for its own population.

I wonder what projects the UK Government is starting to fill any holes caused by Brexit?
