Hard Brexit here we come. | | | | | I think many people think that it will be hard Brexit. We have spent a year negotiating the divorce, now IE and the EU say we will still not begin trade discussions until the NI border is resolved, Spain won't agree that Gibraltar is included and post xmas talks don't resume until March. At this rate how can they ever get to a deal on everything? I do sometimes think it's all a bluff to drag it out to a no deal situation.

Will some MPs on both left and right be brave enough to cross the floor to join new alliance ...
Majority is so so feeble - and a few more could be on way out. Perhaps we've seen nothing yet.

UK factory orders hit four-year high
Survey reveals manufacturing growth rebounding with surge in orders across the sector in November despite Brexit concerns.
The UK purchasing managers index (PMI) – seen as a guide to the performance of manufacturing in the months ahead – rose from 56.6 in October to 58.2 in November.
Even better in the eurozone where the final eurozone PMI stood at 60.1! Source
Also a huge rise in demand for office space in Frankfurt possibly Brexit related.
So win;win all around |

"We have spent a year negotiating the divorce" That is a charitable view, the other view is we spent over a year messing about before accepting exactly what the EU proposed on day one; so over a year wasted
Remember all that tosh about "we wont reveal our negotiating position" and "we have some very good cards to play"! |

"Give the people contests they win by remembering the words to more popular songs or the names of state capitals or how much corn Iowa grew last year.
Cram them full of non-combustible data, chock them so damned full of 'facts' they feel stuffed, but absolutely 'brilliant' with information. Then they'll feel they're thinking, they'll get a sense of motion without moving. And they'll be happy, because facts of that sort don't change.
Don't give them any slippery stuff like philosophy or sociology to tie things up with. That way lies melancholy. Any man who can take a TV wall apart and put it back together again, and most men can nowadays, is happier than any man who tries to slide rule, measure, and equate the universe, which just won't be measured or equated without making man feel bestial and lonely.
I know, I've tried it; to hell with it." - Fahrenheit 451

Jeremy Hunt said today in a televised interview that if we do not support Mrs May, there will be no Brexit - just leave it there for you to ponder over.

I've had heated discussions with people who told me I cannot possibly be against something that had benefitted me.
Obviously some people's allegiances can be bought, and they think it's a moral failing to think otherwise. | | | | | I've come across that as well. It sometimes makes me wonder if I am the only one with any principles. "It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it."

Indeed they are not- which is why now they are seeing the consequences, and that all the promises were just lies ...

Brexit isn't going to happen. I'd have thought that would be obvious by now.

Aye, makes perfect sense. | | | | | I have given up trying to figure out how Brexit will end up, the whole affair has moved to some sort of alternative Kafkaesque universe.
Who would ever have forecast the DUP holding the balance of power in the UK Parliament?
Meanwhile the UK Govt. red lines have proven to be only virtual lines which are blown away by the next strong wind!

If you think post Brexit UK will be the same as Switzerland today (Schengen, free movement of workers, Free trade Agreement, access to EU projects and funding, &&&&) then I would change my vote!

It's comical. Of course the EU are going to tell Britain "Ja das ist i.O. it works for the Swiss and you too have plenty of tax havens, thats great, so of course we'd be happy to just make a copy of the Swiss deal".
