http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-36616955 Cornwall is seeking urgent reassurance that their EU funding won't be cut off; they voted leave.

It can be summed up by a comment from a colleague of mine:

"Turkeys vote for Christmas & then seek reassurance they won't be killed "

As I said in post 1665, the vast majority of MPs in the UK were pro-Remain. I don't see the deal as done and dusted.

Here's the Beeb chart you were looking for, which confirms my statement.

sort out the benefits system so the workshy british idiot isn't better off dropping more kids, and watching jeremry kyle on tv all day, seriously, that johnny foreigner can come here, speak multiple languages, work all the hours god sends doing some menial task, live, eat, and send money back home to support there family, but you can't find a job????
Thread amongst my mates on fb asking who the public will blame. I squarely blame Jeremy Kyle and his ilk for glorifying an underclass whose gobs are always flapping whilst their brains are rarely (if ever) in gear.

Its like the 2015 election all over again. All rabid labour voters unsure why they lost because every tweet, fb post and instagram picture implied they'd win.
Must disagree.
I'm seeing the most venom from my Tory friends (yes! I do have a few) who feel utterly betrayed by their own party.

What do you believe will happen regarding the every day cost of living for the people living in the UK?

Depends partly on the BoE, I firmly believe they'll start to feel increases in costs within 2mths and the cost of imported goods will increase...just don't know how much by yet.

As I explained to a former trade union colleague who voted Leave and is due to go on holiday in a few weeks, she's just voted for a 20% pay cut. That's the impact it will have on her immediate plans because she's not got her currency yet. That shut her up for the first time in 2mths.

I'm watching house prices in my street and 1/2 mile radius, and have been doing so for 3yrs. That will be my guage.

This contingency plan has been reported in the media for a few months now and no surprise they're denying it now. They're having a bad enough day as it is.

Just waiting for JP Morgan to do the same to their Bournemouth HQ.

Is anyone else having problems using their UK credit and debit cards today? I've just had to book flights with Paypal because I kept getting the message that there was a problem contacting the bank at this time.

Some banks aren't allowing currency transfers at the moment (so no debit or credit cards in shops or ATMs) for anyone trying to draw out foreign currency in a card denominated in Sterling.

Probably they are trying to minimise their currency exposure.

Brexit would never have happened had it not been for Camo's rubbish campaign and the arrogance with which Labour have treated their voting base.

Even in defeat, Keith Vaz shows how arrogant and deluded he is:

Interesting statistic: when Greenland voted to leave the EU their result was also 52% leave, 48% remain.
Very different situation. Greenland became part of the European Communities because it was a dependent territory of Denmark, which was a member of the EC. Later, Greenland became self-governing, but still within the realm of Denmark. They held a referendum and elected to leave the EC (not the EU, which was formed only in 1993) in 1985. The margin was 53% leave, 47% remain.

Critical points:
  • citizens of Greenland are EU citizens -- despite the decision to leave the EC, Greenland is still one of the Overseas Countries and Territories of the European Union, because of its continuing relationship with Denmark, a member of the EU;
  • EU funding of Greenland persists and is at the same level as it was before the decision to leave the EC!

I'm sure that if Cameron had negotiated that deal, every man, woman, child and straight banana in the UK would have been happy to leave.

Not sure. I suspect the former but only because it's being reported in multiple places and some have twittered photos of signs in hotels and next to ATMs on holiday saying no withdrawals possible for UK cards.

Sterling, along with the FTSE, seems to have stabilised so I guess any panic blockings will be short-lvied. I suspect the pound and FTSE will now sit at this new level for a while.
