See what I mean? Sly little hints, nasty little digs. You want people to think I've been sending you hate-filled PMs when you know I've never done such a thing, but you won't actually come out and say it because you know it's a lie.

But many EFers are fully aware of the kind of vile misogynistic, ableist PMs that you send to people - exclusively women, funnily enough - because you know they can't share them on the open forum.

White knight, eh? ;)
Someone call Taggart, there’s been a murder!

Clever - rep messages only go back for a page or two so I cannot reproduce them - true.

Bit below the belt as it's against forum rules to show them on the forum - to show both sides of a story. I also strongly refute that I sent anyone a 'vile misogynistic PM'. That's pretty libellous in itself.

I was told by a mod to put that person on my ignore list. Against my better judgement I didn't and they continued to troll posts I made.

As for them being a woman - bit below the belt, and sexist -I'm sure women wouldn't thank you for that.

I'll let you have the last word, Tom. I know that's how you like it.

:)

Actually I'll let the forum moderators have the last word.

Actually, mushrooms might help. Where's Odile when you need her. Sorry. When one needs her.

Back on topic...

Corbyn has lied less. I think it's as simple as that. Johnson has done himself no favours by avoiding certain issues. There's a bit of thread convergence here now I think.

However, if you do ban him then for the sake of consistency, you ought to either ban a lot of others on this thread too, or step down as a mod.

Your choice.

This moderator deleted an earlier post of mine on the grounds that it was abusive. The irony was not lost...

Are there any rules for mods on contributing to a thread?

Not on this one as apparently abusive and personal posts are now allowed.

No, but when a mod does it I think it's wrong. If I step out of line, a mod may send me a PM.

Good, my apologies to TonyClifton, I shouldn´t have said that

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant are mods allowed to contribute to a thread on one side or the other (as in this thread), or are their posts meant to remain impartial.

They are welcome to join in any thread with their own personal views, but then (in theory) must not moderate that thread.

Not really the thread for it I appreciate but in a reply to this:

I sent you a PM asking you to send me the PMs that I had apparently sent and received no response from you. I also cc'd the mods (of course they may be busy).

What I don't understand:

If I had been sending abusive PMs, why didn't the recipient report it to the mods and instead of you? If they had, I would have expected (and deserved) a ban - like you do when you are abusive to Odile.

If it is the EF member I am thinking of - I had reported her to the mods for trolling and stalking every post I made. They told me to ignore her, which I did.

If it's the same person, she made a pretty unpleasant and upsetting remark about one of my children who had been bullied for a year and the teachers had sent him to a psychologist rather than deal with the know bullies.

I also ignored her for a while which is fine except she still continued with the trolling.

There are two sides two every story and I'm sorry, but her being a woman does not absolve her of any guilt.

It's funny you are up in your arms for a tiny remark from a very impartial mod otherwise, who never had any attempts to control any discussions, and ignore the thanks and passive-agresiveness from the other.
Who is going to win this discussion, those who lie? Those who accuse others of doing what they also do?

Pretty childish, seriously.

Let's get back to the topic and stick to it.

Oh my, roegner. I don't think it was necessary. You really take moderating to a whole new level, but maybe it's better this way....Chapeau! (though unwillingly you'll give fuel to another round of abuses towards a few of us)

That Corbyn, he doesn’t like them Jews but he’s closing in on the polls.

What does that mean for society ?

Perhaps that the general public are smart enough to differentiate between Jews and Israel’s govt/foreign policy?

I know, I’m shocked too

That's not the case, never has been. I know one mod has, at some point in the past, stated that as a personal preference for themselves, but nowhere has it ever been suggested that this is a rule.

That's an interesting point you raise - I think a lot of users believe they are your guidelines (somewhat flexible ones) so are surprised when pontification and sanction happen in the same thread.

Would you consider adopting it as a rule - seems to make a lot of sense tbh.

Problem is that if that the one mod happens to be the only mod around at the time then people will take advantage; some posts need to be killed on the spot!

Re: Jeremy Corbyn refuses to denounce terrorist 'friends' Hamas and Hezbollah

This thread has veered so far off course there's no going back. I'm not going to try and split all the OT at this point.

If you want to start a Corbyn thread to talk about Corbyn, do that.

If you want to talk about what/how/why mods should and shouldn't moderate, then do that, but in a separate thread.

Again, please leave out the personal attacks. They're unnecessary and don't add anything useful to conversations.
