Christina Grimmie (RIP)

Very sad to hear a young and talented singer Christina Grimmie was shot at a meet and greet in Orlando and died from her injuries earlier today. The gunman has killed himself.

I didn't know her and watched on YouTube. Very talented girl, what a loss, so young and horrible way to die.

Yes, such tragic way to go. Her last social media post showed how excited she was to perform in Orlando.. Will never understand why someone would do such a terrible thing. Another thing is.. I assumed there is a check for weapons for concerts/events.

I thought they did check you to make sure you do have a gun so you can defend yourself against any idiot who also has a gun.

Re: Christina Grimmie (RIP)

Well the killer has been identified as 27 year old Kevin Loibl who came to Orlando with the purpose of killing her. Christina's brother, who tackled him, is hailed a hero, since he likely avoided more people being hurt.

The police is checking his computer and phone hoping for any clues as to what made him want to kill her. Meanwhile, Christina's management has set up a gofundme page for her family https://www.gofundme.com/christinagrimmie.

The site is full of heartfelt messages by friends family and fans. One particular story that shows what a kind soul she was is the one where a fan reached out to Christina because her Mom had passed away and Christina replied in such beautiful way. So sick. Even in her death management tries to monetize her.

That's very cynical. What, you think her manager is taking a cut of the donations raised?

Re: Christina Grimmie (RIP)

The funds don't benefit the manager. They go toward the family and the family will decide how to use them. The manager just opened the page in their name.

It doesn't matter to me whether the manager gets a share or not. I'm sick of people monetizing other people's bad luck (to call it that) just because there's an opportunity.

With $1-2mln to inherit they clearly aren't in need of donations. Heck, Levine of the Maroon 5 has already offered to pay for the funeral.

I agree wholeheartedly that this is most sick. Just not that it's me.

I believe that her manager knew more about her financial situation (than the internet), otherwise he probably wouldn't have opened this campaign.
With a mother who is suffering from breast cancer for years, who knows what's the real situation.

Anyway, the family can decide to use what's been collected for helping other young artists or some charities, I don't think that's such a bad idea after all.

Re: Christina Grimmie (RIP)

I have been watching her since she had less than 20k subscribers.

It was great to watch her build up her fanbase and then see her take it to the next level when she was on The Voice.

RIP

cheers

Re: Christina Grimmie (RIP)

The manager was actually very close to the Grimmie family. His wife (Selena Gomez' Mom) was the one who discovered Christina's Youtube and she and her husband managed her career ever since. Christina and Selena were very close also.

I therefore believe that the manager acted in good faith and just wanted to create a space for fans to grieve and leave messages and for those who can, to donate something for the family. I could imagine the family opening up a fund in Christina's name. As far as I was aware Christina, who was very close to her family, still lived at home. I read that they now want to move away which is understandable.

A vigil took place yesterday in her hometown in NJ.

This is what her brother had to say about the gofundme page:

I first heard from my sisters manager, Brian Teefey, that he will be making a gofundme to help our family move out of our current house and to take care of the funeral, and I figured why not, and I'm not about sharing that kind of stuff and I'm not a fan of handouts at all.
I found out this morning, that Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight, and I was blown away. Now a friend just told me to look at the gofundme page and I see it is at 100k. Words cannot express...literally I have no words.
I promise both my parents and I will read every one of these personalized messages. I'm so blown away by everything right now. But all I can say is thank you. And Christina will be missed and never ever forgotten.
Love you Christina

Please do not feel the need to donate anything at all. Please. Just leave a kind word, message or picture in the comments or message me and sign this change.org petition to help Christina possible be remembered in the next legend of Zelda game, her favorite game of all time.

Re: Christina Grimmie (RIP)

New details about the killer's motive emerged.. His Co-Workers spoke of his infatuation with CG, stating that he underwent LASiK eye surgery and hair transplant to make her fall in love withhim. They claimed he spoke of marrying her.
He apparently alsowent to one of her concerts in March where things didn't go as planned. It seems finding out she was in a relationship was the final straw..

Re: Christina Grimmie (RIP)

Her family has released the four music videos from her "The Ballad of Jessica Blue" project. If anyone wants to view them, the first one in the series "Snow White" can be found here and the other three are on the same channel.
