That's how I've been reading it from the start. Basically from what I've read she got herself involved with the wrong thing, in the wrong place, and at the wrong time.

It wasn't a targeted attack from what I can glean, but nevertheless incredibly tragic. My sympathies lie with her family.
I guess it's possible you have a greater insight into the incident than her husband.

Husband wasn't there so he doesn't know for sure. From one of the eyewitnesses:

"There was a guy who was being very brave and another guy with a white baseball cap who he was trying to control and the man in the baseball cap suddenly pulled a gun from his bag".

After a brief scuffle, he said the man stepped back and the MP became involved.

Mr Abdallah said the weapon had "looked handmade" and a man who had been wrestling with the gunman continued even after seeing the gun."

From the sounds of that it was the two men first and then she, for whatever reason, involved herself in the situation.

And some witnesses say the oposite.
Quote:
Terry Flynn-Edwards, who runs the Divine hair studio opposite the scene of the attack, said a man from a dry cleaners had tried to stop the assault. She said Cox “walked out of the library with her PA and he was waiting for her. He stabbed her first and this guy tried to stop him and then he shot her.”
Plus, I guess the family are better informed than the press.

And just proves that eyewitnesses don't really know what they saw. Calling CSI, calling CSI ...

Re: Jo Cox MP dead after shooting attack

Just watching the German news at half time tonight and they're not so subtly implying it had something to do with the EU Referendum.

If this was a political attack then anti-terrorism police would be leading the investigation. They're not which suggests it was a local nutter that killed her.

horribly sad and an absolute tragedy for her family, regardless of whatever the cause might have been for the event.

Actually, most guarded locations with some sort of threat-level have these mugshot/set-card type of files on typical wackos and other unwanted persons that show up at regular intervals.
Saw it in a documentary about the Vatican Swiss Guards. They've got hundreds of them.

As for the attack - it's really sad that something like this can happen. Or rather: happened again.
Because I'm not totally surprised, either.
We've had quite a number of politicians being attacked by nut-cases like this perp.
E.g. Wolfgang Schäuble barely made it out alive and has been bound to a wheelchair since a gun attack on him, 26 years ago this October.

I'd like to express my condolences to Ms. Cox's family as well as her constituents. I know this will spark debate, but I think that now is a time to mourn.

Re: Jo Cox MP dead after shooting attack

Happens quite often in the UK too it seems.

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-36551777

An overall review of security arrangements when MPs aren't at Westminster looks like it's needed.

Jesus, we know you are clutching at straws when you are quoting Majjid Nawaz and practice that happened 20 years ago

He's not really considered much of a role model amongst British Muslims.

Time to bring honour and duty back into British politics. It's rare I applaud the Conservatives, but I do on this...

The Conservatives will not contest the West Yorkshire seat left vacant following the murder of Labour MP Jo Cox.

He doesn't have any opinions, he just reels out whatever he thinks his audience wants to hear.

Quote:
“Most in my family who witnessed his life outside home, religious or irreligious, find his story at least exaggerated or embellished for his agenda, if not absolutely false,” Nawaz’s elder brother, Kaashif, said

..

“He is neither an Islamist nor a liberal,” he said. “Maajid is whatever he thinks he needs to be.
The man is a fraud and a government stooge whose think tank has received £2.6M of tax payers money for essentially very little.

Quote:
The 38-year-old Liberal Democrat has worked his way into the world of think tanks and national security circles, too, mingling with thought leaders and politicians who believe that his journey from fundamentalism to freedom gives him the authority to opine on a broad range of topics related to religion and violence. Nawaz jet-sets from Ivy League lecture halls to annual gabfests in the Colorado mountains; from the stages of TED talks to awards galas; and from the backrooms of British officialdom to Senate hearings in Washington, recounting at each juncture along the way the narrative that undergirds his rise to fame: a foot soldier of a Western enemy whose march toward an Islamic caliphate was interrupted by a Damascene conversion.

Buried beneath the adulation, though, are the sighs of those who have long maintained that Nawaz’s dramatic tale of redemption isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. Interviews with his friends and relatives suggest that his account is riddled with inconsistencies and inaccuracies—indications, they say, of a turncoat who cares more about being a well-compensated hero than he does about the cause he champions.

The husband has my respect:

"Today is the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. More difficult, more painful, less joyful, less full of love. I and Jo's friends and family are going to work every moment of our lives to love and nurture our kids and to fight against the hate that killed Jo."
