So one man can prevent business mergers. Not totalitarian at all then.

Thanks for clearing that up.
Yes, when that man happens to be the President of the US.

You're welcome.

He was relying on second hand sources i.e. he hasn't been to Russia in over 20 years.
From today's Guardian
Quote:
Why had America’s intelligence agencies felt it necessary to provide a compendium of the claims to Barack Obama and Trump himself?

And the answer to that lies in the credibility of its apparent author, the ex-MI6 officer Christopher Steele the quality of the sources he has and the quality of the people prepared to vouch for him.
Source

FWIW, the Steele's company had been hired originally by one of Trump’s early Republican opponents before the contract was taken up by senior Democrats.

Putin success?

The American “target” has been destabilised, its democratic system of governance discredited before the world, and its new leader compromised before he takes power.
Time will tell whether Putin has overplayed his hand. Right now, he must be laughing fit to burst – in a plausibly deniable way.

From the article "Many in the US and abroad will view Trump in one of three ways: dupe, dope, or stooge."

&

"The Obama administration itself believes foreign agents, acting for Moscow, worked to influence the election on Trump’s behalf.
All the US intelligence agencies agree.
That finding has provoked a bitter public rift between Trump, the CIA and the National Security Agency, Washington’s first line of defence and the Russian intelligence agencies’ principal foes."

He reminds me of the longest-serving Labour prime minister of the 20th century Harold Wilson.
He was one of the youngest Oxford dons of the century at the age of 21.

Nevertheless he was very convincing at playing the role of the "common man". I remember you would see photos of him eating a meal with a bottle of HP Brown sauce prominently displayed on the table.
Harold Wilson was working class. He won a scholarship to go to grammar school and a grant allowed him to attend Oxford.

When asked yesterday what should be done to reform news, Trump said he will not recommend reforms, he will simply recommend good ones, and if any, the journalists need to find their own moral compasses. I applaud that.
WTAF?!!! Reform news???

Freedom of the press not mean anything to you? Murdoch already has the monopoly in Australia, concerns in the UK and ever increasing concerns in the US. Do you seriously want Trump's bosom buddy controlling all the US media?

There is no need for a witch hunt, nor a black list. The journalists' reputation and credibility simply rise and fall along with the decisions they make.
Whilst Trump's reputation appears untarnished because he is above reproach and cannot be questioned or doubted?

Now you really have jumped the shark with the nonsense. It's clear you are trolling now though, you don't really believe this, you're not a sociopathic monster.

Also, don't choose flat earth to try and back up your point, it's an awful lot of bollocks. Since at least the time of Socrates (i.e. Scientific method), no educated person believed in it...much like today's climate change denial

Who checks the journalist's name when they read an article?
I do if it's a site I regularly visit. My all time hero is Robert Capa, so serious documentary photography grabs my attention way before any headline.

For the logically challenged here who don't believe in freedom of the press and hold the PE up as a demigod, you're going to see a lot more of this camaraderie before the dust settles...

Quote:
Fox News anchor Shepard Smith on Wednesday criticized President-elect Donald Trump for his shouting match with a CNN reporter....

"President-elect Trump today told CNN's Jim Acosta the his organization amounts to fake news. CNN's exclusive reporting on the Russian matter was separate and distinctly different from the document dump executed by an online news property," Smith said during his closing monologue.

"Though we at Fox News cannot confirm CNN's report, it is our observation that its correspondents followed journalistic standards and that neither they nor any other journalists should be subjected to belittling and delegitimizing by the president-elect of the United States," Smith added.

This Russian business will not go away.

There are simply too many loose ends for people to grab a hold of!

For example, independent reports suggest that US intelligence agencies were already investigating alleged links, such as those between businessman Carter Page and senior Russian officials.
The president-elect’s spokesman Sean Spicer this week said that the president-elect “does not know” Page, even though Trump himself last March in a Washington Post interview described Carter Page as a member of his foreign policy team.
