Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

What surveillance devices?

The typical IMSI catchers?

There are so many of them in DC that the FTC has lost count:

https://www.wired.com/story/dcs-stin...-surveillance/

Some are probably from the US' own three-letter agencies (and DC Metro police etc.pp.).

“I don’t think the Israelis are spying on us,” Trump told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House. “I really would find that hard to believe.”

Americas dangerous dalliance with dictatorship continues as the DOJ refuse to provide the house intelligence committee evidence from the Mueller report and enables the vendetta against Andrew McCabe.

Remember when the US dept of justice was independent? now it's not even trying to pretend to be.

Not only refusing but actively defending - DOJ files brief;
"The Department of Justice (DOJ) argued Friday that a federal court should reject the House Judiciary Committee’s efforts to obtain evidence and testimony from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

This thread has been suspiciously quiet for a few days now. Could that be because the Kavanaugh assault by the NYT and Dems has proven to be a poorly calculated/stupid move? When will these guys (Dems) get their act together?

All they succeeded in doing is to reinforce Trump and his supporters! For those who missed the NYT gaffe, and it was a BAD one!, here is a link:

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Oh America!
Trump retweets lie that Ilhan Omar “partied” on 9/11 anniversary

Also retweeted a video taken on September 13 of Omar dancing to a Lizzo track during a Congressional Black Caucus event to support his lie.

Omar responded by noting that the president “is continuing to spread lies that put my life at risk,” and asked Twitter to do something about it.

Meanwhile National Intelligence Head continues to refuse to hand over a whistle blower complaint to Congress that his Inspector General described as credible and urgent.
According to "leaks" the complaint includes a troubling “promise” made during a conversation between President Trump and a foreign leader.
All a part of the administration's across-the-board efforts to frustrate Congress' constitutionally authorized role of oversight of the executive branch.

Whenever you think it can't get more crazy, as I'm reading this, there is no scope in the law for interpretation, the complaint had to be handed to the House intel committee within 7 days. We know the trump supporters aren't the sharpest tools in the box but how smart do you have to be to think having the authorities obey the law is a good thing? So who was it? Kim or Putin? I bet it was his boss, one wonders what he promised Putin face to face.

More information slowy trickles out....
Quote:
Following the House Intelligence Committee's closed-door meeting today with the intelligence community's inspector general it was revealed the complaint involved ‘more than one’ event.

More possible clues here!
Quote:
White House counselor Kellyanne Conway's husband George Conway said Thursday that if a report detailing President Trump's involvement in pressuring Ukraine's government to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden is true, Trump should be impeached "without delay."
Rumoured a phone call between Trump and Ukraine's president suggesting that U.S.-Ukraine relations would improve if the Biden investigation was launched.
Edit; Could be why at end of August the Trump administration was slow-walking $250 million in military assistance to Ukraine, annoying lawmakers and advocates who argue the funding is critical to keeping Russia at bay. Trump knows how to find levers!!

Meanwhile a positive step on gun control "Gun manufacturer Colt announced today that it will no longer produce and sell rifles such as the AR-15 for personal use."

&
Quote:
The Trump administration is pressuring the University of North Carolina and Duke University to revise their joint Middle East studies program or risk federal funding.

The Trump Education Department wrote in an Aug. 29 letter to the Duke-UNC Consortium for Middle East Studies that the program disproportionately portrays "the positive aspects of Islam."

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Trump demonstrating the law of unintended consequences; unfortunately for him most major comapnies are global, not local US companies.

Trump's tariffs on China, meant to help boost the US steel industry, may actually be hurting US Steel's European operations. It cited a "continued high level of steel imports to Europe" as one factor contributing to its struggling performance, imports that may be coming from Chinese steel producers unable to sell in the United States because of the tariffs.

US Steel's stock is down more than 60% from a year ago — as President Donald Trump's promises to revive the steel industry have failed to materialize.

Just another example of the US president not having an effing clue.

Take a moment also to reflect on the state of affairs with Iran and that it all stems from spite at Obama's Iran nuclear deal.

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Article here on the dying US coal industry despite Trump's claims of "beautiful coal".

Some quotes!
Quote:
Approximately 15% of America's coal burning plants has been retired since 2017, the year Trump took office; expect another 10% will be shuttered between 2019 and 2020.
Quote:
The economics have been front and center in this transition, low-cost natural gas, the declining cost of renewables.
Law of unintended consequences strikes again!
Quote:
"Low interest rates, have been an important part of how we are able to invest and retire plants."
Cheap borrowing costs have paved the way for power companies to build natural gas, wind, solar, hydro and other more environmentally friendly plants.
The corporate tax cut enacted by Trump has helped as well.
Quote:
The average coal plant is more than 40 years old; the average lifespan is just 60 years. No new plants have been buit for years and plans to build new ones are stalled.

US politics will never be the same again!!

Quote:
Of the 17 House Republicans who have said they don't plan on running for another term, 13 are simply retiring outright -- without any other office to run for.
Which is a historical anomaly -- and best explained by this quote from retiring Republican Michigan Rep. Paul Mitchell to The Washington Post:
"Did any member of this conference expect that their job would start out every morning trying to go through the list of what's happening in tweets of the day? We're not moving forward right now. We are simply thrashing around."
