Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Sort of tragi-comedy that Trump believed releasing a transcript of his Ukraine phone call requesting a foreign leader to investigate his political opponent would fix his problem.

Whistleblower complaint is now released and Maguire, the acting director of national intelligence, is giving evidence under oath to the House Committee.

Maguire expressed confidence that the inspector general and the whistleblower “have acted in good faith” and had done everything “by the book”.

A key Whistleblower claim showed how Trump’s attempts to apply pressure on Zelenskiy extended beyond just withholding nearly $400m in military and other aid to Ukraine. According to the report, Trump also directed vice-president Mike Pence to cancel travel to Ukraine to attend Zelenskiy’s inauguration in May and “made clear” to other officials he did not want to meet with Zelenskiy until he saw how the Ukrainian president chose to act in office.

The complaint alleges that White House officials launched a cover-up to keep information about Trump’s call with the Ukrainian president from becoming public.

Alleged the White House removed the full and complete electronic transcript of Trump's telephone call form the computer used to store such transcripts.

A number of allegations against Giuliani including damaging US national security and pressuring Ukraine leadership to confirm old allegations from their former prosecutor Lutsenko about the Democrats and Biden (Lutsenko had later stated he had no evidence against Biden or his son).

To show you how dishonest the LameStream Media is, I used the word Liddle’, not Liddle, in (sic) discribing Corrupt Congressman Liddle’ Adam Schiff.
Low ratings @CNN purposely took the hyphen out and said I spelled the word little wrong. A small but never ending situation with CNN!

"@CNN purposely took the hyphen out" WTF!!
Anyway it is an apostrophe not a hyphen!

I have no clue how adding an apostrophe to a non existent word improves it?
Maybe he was using it as a contraction, for example, replacing Liddle shit Adam with Liddle' Adam?

Poor old guy needs to be put in a quiet secure room somewhere?

Edit; Someone on twitter proposed he was thinking of the word li'l and knew an apostrophe had to appear somewhere

But there weren't any protocols or similar (transcripts) to begin with? Just the two presidents plus one translator for each were present, no? Or did they record the whole thing even though they claimed they didn't?

You are talking about face to face meetings, I was posting about phone calls!

Quote:
President Trump and President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia have had at least five face-to-face meetings and nine publicly reported conversations over the phone since Mr. Trump won the election in 2016

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Major and serious admission by the White House
Quote:
The White House is acknowledging for the first time that officials did direct the Ukraine call transcript be filed in a separate classified system.

In a statement provided to CNN, a senior White House official says it was under the direction of National Security Council attorneys: "NSC lawyers directed that the classified document be handled appropriately."

The admission lends further credibility to the whistleblower complaint description of how the transcript with the Ukrainian president, among others, were kept out of wider circulation by using a system for highly sensitive documents.
Trump has survived many scandals but this one is getting serious!

Re: Will Trump be a Good President?

Informed view from an expert on whistleblowers, worth reading if you have time.
Quote:
President Donald J. Trump will be impeached. Maybe not convicted by the Senate, but impeached by the House.
That’s my prediction, given the rapidly unfolding events in Ukrainegate.
The catalyst for impeachment is the alleged CIA whistleblower and the team of intelligence community officials he is going to bat for.
Trump picked a fight with the wrong crowd. Now, they’re fighting back, with the Constitution in one hand, and evidence of Trump’s corruption in the other.
Game on.

You might call this team, collectively, “Deep State Throat.” They’re a Deep State, alright, but not like Trump thinks. They’re not rogues. They’re patriots.

Senate Passes Unanimous Resolution to Hand Whistle-blower Complaint to Intel Committees

One of the most pressing questions of the hectic Tuesday involved why Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell chose to counter his block-everything legacy and fast-track the resolution. (McConnell chose to “hotline” the motion, meaning he bypassed normal Senate procedures to move Schumer’s request to a vote without floor debate.)

Republicans have some thinking to do. So far they've lined up behind Trump and not really held him accountable. However if the evidence is that bad, they might (doubtful but you never know) think it better to ditch Trump and get Pence into office before the 2020 elections.

Which is presumably why Trump is trying to drag Pence down with him. If Pence is out, then it's Pelosi who gets the job.

If Republicans do decide to ditch Trump then they are unlikely to advertise it beforehand; likely by voting against Trump at the last available moment?

Trump gave his version of events to U.S. diplomats this week and went after Joe Biden and then claimed that Hunter Biden coerced the Chinese government to contribute $1.5 billion to an investment fund.
His alleged conversation with Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman was brought up in the process.
In a statement to Bloomberg, Jennifer Friedman, Schwarzman's spokeswoman, said that conversation never took place.

“Steve was never asked by anyone, and has never had, conversations with the Chinese about Joe Biden or his family,” she said.

Mostly they are scared of Trump, if they do not support him he will whip up his base to vote them out in their next election. I do not believe there is much love or real loyalty there.

If it really looks like he would be out then they may turn on him, you know the expression "The king is dead, long live the King!".

Pence does no longer seem such a bad idea as it did a while ago
